Hello. My name is Jessica and I have always had a love of baking. I also LOVE my dogs!. When Covid hit and my EMT program came to a hault. I decided to combine the two other loves and make Healthy Homamade dog treats.
What started with only six flavors a year ago now has over 40 flavors!
Mostly gluten and grain free, with a few exceptions, these treats are made for everyone! Sensitivity, allergies, joint and inflammation, or a tasty reward.
Our treats, cakes, and cupcakes are made with the best human grade ingredients and zero preservatives.
We are excited to offer new flavors, gift baskets, and stocking stuffers this holiday season!
I will be taking orders like I did last year for gift baskets and other items.

This was posted by my Vet, and I Couldn't agree more!
This is a sad statement, but always reminds me of a study done many years ago when I was a new graduate. Some of the details are fogged in memory, but the pertinent facts are still relevant. This was long before rescues or pages long 'adoption' forms. It was simply a study on why people kept dogs and why they didn't. I think the HSUS did it, as they were really the only active group at the time, but can't verify that.
Anyway, the study lasted four years. During that time, they kept records of every dog adopted out of the system. They compared every variable they could- big dogs vs little dogs, males vs females, neutered vs intact, puppies vs adults, family homes vs singles, with or without children, etc.
What they found was the only thing that mattered was obedience training. If the dog either was obedience trained when adopted, or got trained within the first six months, 95% of those dogs stayed in the home for the full four years. The remaining 5% were only relinquished due to unavoidable reasons, such as death of owner with no family.
Of the remaining groups of dogs, only 50% of ANY of them stayed in homes the full four years.
The reason is simple. If you can trust the dog to behave, it becomes easy to make it into a valued/loved family member. If you need to put it away when you have family activities or can't travel with it, it's easy to give it up. Because the obedience trained dog is a family member, when owners have to move, they find places where they can take the dog rather than give it up. They can trust the dog in public, so it goes with them on vacation. It is part of their life, rather than something the kids need to be reminded to feed.
In this day and age of designer dogs, we need to remember temperament and trainability are what lasts after the cute puppy grows up.
