This will make you walk to that stand with a little more intention during hunting season… Caught a few pics of this cat over a 3 hour period this morning, last one at 5:40am. I’ve been running cameras all over our lease for years now and have never gotten a pic of a mountain lion, gave me chills to see something like that walking through an area I spend a lot of time in!

had the lease to himself today and his pick of stands but text me this morning that he had a good feeling about hunting his old trusty blind. Apparently, going with your gut IS a good idea! Hammered this 8 just as the sun was coming up, didn’t even have time to get cold or eat his Snickers bar. Great job, Pops!

Closed out 2023 with a bang, literally!! didn’t waste any time last night harvesting this big ol’ slick head and punching her Holiday doe tag. She had deer all over her last night but was patient and shot the biggest doe in the group! Great job, boo!!
I am so proud of this woman, not just because she got to shoot a doe last night, but because she has ENDURED 2023! Almost 6 months ago she was in the ICU (we still don’t know what the heck caused it 🤬) struggling with basic motor skills, couldn’t walk, septic, nearly dying, experiencing pain indescribable to anyone with even a high pain tolerance. From the day she was admitted until now she has continued to ENDURE. She’s running 2 small businesses that demand her constant attention ( ), she’s running a family full of people that are always on the run, she makes sure our house is a safe and comfortable place to be when there is a few moments of calm. She does all of this without hesitation, without complaining, with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She is a giver to everyone she meets in life, and doesn’t ask for or expect anything in return. She is the epitome of selflessness. We would all be better by taking a page from her book and applying it in our lives.
Because she continues to ENDURE, she continues to be successful in anything she puts her mind to and I have no doubt that 2024 won’t be any different. She’s going to continue finding a way versus finding an excuse. “It’s fine” is something a lot of us have heard her say, and I know from experience that typically means it isn’t but she’s going to find a way to make it fine and make things work.
I love you, I am proud to stand beside you, I am honored and blessed to have this life with you, I can’t wait to watch you King Leonidas kick 2024!

One year ago today I connected on a deer that I’d been seeing for over 3 years. I spent way more time than I would like to admit trying to figure this dude out… Checking as soon as I woke up and before I went to bed to see if he was showing up and where, feeding year around to make sure he stayed fat and happy, moving stands and blinds to try and cut him of. MISSING HIM TWICE the year before 🤢🤢
Got a text message from Mike Handley yesterday who put the official tape to him at and measured at 169 6/8”. Can’t wait to get him home and on the wall, and can only hope I ever get another shot at a deer of this caliber.
Happy anniversary, “Heartbreak”! I will forever chase the high of sticking a buck of your caliber!

I love the woods! It’s a place where you can think about everything or about nothing. Can solve all your problems or leave them behind for just a little while. A place you can disconnect from the things that don’t matter and reconnect with the things that do.
