Words fail me. I have written and rewritten this post a dozen times… ultimately, the thread through all of the versions is love. How much I love my cousin and how deeply I’ll miss him. How grateful I am that I could tell him one last time how much I loved him and that he could say it back. The thing about grief is there is also anger, regret, deep, deep sadness, but now, despite the pain we feel in his absence, he is no longer suffering… and I pray that when his soul transitioned, my aunt was waiting for him with her big beaming smile and said, “now, let’s go be butterflies together.” 🦋🦋 Rest in peace sweet Jeffy, your heart is in my heart always. 💜💜💜

Happy 5th anniversary, my sweet darling. You are the best decision I’ve ever made and I’m grateful for your partnership everyday. Best friend, best dance partner, best daddy. I love you hunny 🥂

My auntie “LA” I always called you. And me, your “Chelsea MarIEEEE,” you’d say with an exaggerated E. My heart is broken. Over the last year you fought with grace and persistent faith despite all of the unfair circumstances. I am so grateful we got so much time together. We talked for hours over our visits, you were always the best listener and I loved listening to you. You never shied away from hard topics or vulnerability and that made me feel so safe with you always. When I was in the depths of my struggles with depression and anxiety you drove me to my first Dr. appointment because I was too afraid. You had the best laugh and the best smile. The prettiest blue eyes. You loved little Sunny so much, everyday you’d ask for pictures of her. And you spoiled her endlessly. Last night, after I said goodbye to you I held onto the blanket you made for her, yellow and soft like sunshine, like you, and I imagined you finally out of pain. You were the most magnificent mom, aunt, sister, daughter, friend and wife. I will miss you so much, forever. I love you.

Crawled around a museum with the bunny, made some art, held hands, tried not to touch the art…. All that good stuff.

She ran away, pulled some card, drank a couple dirty martini’s and she finished her book, in exactly one year. What happens next, remains to be seen. But the book? She’s finally here. I have never felt such an exhale.
