Here’s our reasons why you should never undermine the role a support worker 🫶🏼 We are VERY passionate about this topic. We are completely aware that there are people who work in this industry for the wrong reasons or who say it’s ‘easy’, therefore they aren’t doing their job properly. This is most likely why people often drop the “JUST” in there when talking about support work. But we are here to convince you otherwise 😏 If you work for a company that models the pyramid structure, we are telling you the ground floor is the most important. Support workers are the backbone of the company. They are on the ground floor delivering the support, implementing the values and are the “safe” space for so many vulnerable people in our community. The “just” needs to stop. Support Workers should feel valued and be proud of the work they are doing. Their job is just as important as any management position in the company. Being a support worker is incredibly meaningful. You have the opportunity and privilege of making a positive impact on people’s lives. You provide vital assistance to those in need and help people achieve their goals. It’s takes COMPASSION, PATIENCE, EMPATHY and DEDICATION to excel in the role. It demands physical stamina, emotional resilience and adaptability to ever-changing situations. You can not be a self-centred person to do this role. You constantly need to think about someone else’s needs before your own and we acknowledge that not everyone has the ability to do this. Therefore, we believe support workers need more credit. It’s time to drop the “just”. A support workers job is important!
