Happy Manila Day!

Today, we commemorate Manila’s 453rd founding anniversary. As we remember the bravery of Rajah Sulayman, Rajah Matanda (Ache), and Lakan Dula in defending Manila from the Spanish occupants, let us also never forget to protect our own land and waters against invaders at all costs.

May this momentous day inspire everyone to be the modern day heroes who will courageously defend our territories, such as the West Philippine Sea, which has been under threat with the escalating dispute between China and the Philippines. The aggression against maritime forces and civilians, as well as the blocking of Philippine vessels, has occurred in the country's Exclusive Economic Zone.

Let us not let our ancestors’ bravery go to waste as we continue the fight to secure our rights, freedom, land, and waters for the betterment of everyone’s future. Let us use our voices to preserve the nation’s territory.

Although physical strength and endurance were used to gain our independence, we must not forget the battle of wits that empowered people to do so.

Today, we honor Dr. Jose Rizal’s 163rd birth anniversary as a reminder of the sacrifices he made for our country. His unwavering love and passion for both the nation and writing led us to the rights and independence we possess.

There is no denying that his influence through his writing continues to lift people's spirits to this day, as it is constantly studied, embodied, and loved by Filipinos.

May we use this day to remember that nothing is more powerful than a pen and to appreciate and defend those who fight for the truth as our nation's watchdogs.

Eid Mubarak!

The Nucleus is one with our Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate the feast of sacrifice, Eid al-Adha and commemorate a time of reflection. During this occasion, Muslims offer prayer, enjoy festive meals, and spend time with loved ones to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, to Allah.

Independence is the fortitude to forge our own paths, free from the constraints of conformity.

Today is a significant moment as we celebrate 126 years of independence. On June 12, 1898, the Philippines declared independence after years of colonization, demonstrating the bravery and steadfast determination of our ancestors who battled valiantly for our country's liberty.

As we reflect on this historic occasion, let us not forget the brave men who gave their lives for our freedom. Great men like Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, and Emilio Aguinaldo, among others, inspire us to continue working for a more prosperous and thriving Philippines.

This day commemorates our historical hardships and celebrates our diverse culture, mixed origins, and the solidarity that connects us as Filipino people. It is a moment to celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to a bright future full of possibilities.

Let us work together to establish a country that honors our history, respects humanity, and encourages growth for all Filipinos.

Long live the Philippines!

Manila Science High School (MSHS) took great pride and joy in extending heartfelt congratulations to Yzhae Marrione C. Villaruel for being awarded a prestigious patent by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for her groundbreaking invention titled “Multi-S.A.V.E.R. Cane” (Multifunctional Safety Aid for the Visually Impaired and Elderly in Roadside).

In an official page post by MSHS featuring the Letters Patent Invention, IPOPHL granted the said patent on January 12, 2024, with a term lasting until June 10, 2040, unless earlier canceled, lapsed, or forfeited.

Yzhae then held the right to restrain and prohibit any unauthorized person or entity from making, using, offering for sale, selling, or importing a product obtained directly or indirectly from such a process.

Her journey in obtaining a patent for her invention started when she was a junior high school student under her research adviser and MSHS Intellectual Property Club adviser, Mrs. Precious M. Bautista. Through Yzhae's determination and with the guidance of Mrs. Bautista, their efforts have now paid off with this milestone as a MaScian—a fitting moment to conclude her MSHS education.

Congratulations, Yzhae! Your outstanding accomplishment is a testament to your dedication and innovation. May you continue to advance science in the service of our country. | via Gabrielle M. Magnabihon

As students of Manila Science High School, a supposed microcosm of our larger society, our electoral practices and beliefs should mirror those we want to see in the real world as well. As early as now, each one should exercise their right to vote, especially considering that elections should be carried out as a shared responsibility between both voters and candidates.
