A common misconception about extensions is that growing your hair out while maintaining them isn’t a possibility.

…. The proof is in the pudding 😇

TIPS FROM T+MAD

How to maintain hair growth while actively wearing Hand-tied extensions:

1. FIND A KNOWLEDGABLE HAIRDRESSER - A certified hand-tied stylist will know how long you should be going in between move-ups, how many rows + hair your head can handle and give honest and professional advice on your goals and expectations.

2. MAINTAINING MOVE UPS - Going too long in between move ups can be damaging to your natural hair. A certified stylist should strongly recommend when and if this becomes a problem. Time between move ups depends on the type of method that’s being used.

3. USING THE RIGHT PRODUCT - You’ve all heard this speech a million times! The truth is if you are dropping $$ on your hair to look a certain way you have to maintain that will quality product.

4. PROPER HAND-TIED CARE - During your installation your stylist should go over how to care for your extensions. How to brush properly without snagging anything, never going to sleep with your hair wet and styling and heat management.

However, we will be booking consultations starting in MAY in order to get all of our current extension clients taken care of + situated as soon as our doors are back open. Are you freakin kidding????? please become a model right now. | We moved up her two rows, washed and styled. That’s IT. No color this appointment, not even toner and it’s still this damn good! When you have lived-in color, the grow out is seamless. || Link in bio for consultations with us⚡️

This installation was a challenging one. We were dealing with very fragile areas of her scalp around her face, along with breakage that just could not be camouflaged due to previous bald spots from beaded wefts and tapes. That being said we were able to place the wefts on areas that were healthy enough to support a row and used the minimum amount of hair needed for her to get some length out of these extensions. No bleach was used on her previously lightened hair. We are very pleased with the results + will continue to monitor and hopefully nurse her scalp and hair back to their best potential.
We are not posting this to bash any other artist or their extension method or to embarrass our beautiful client, instead we wanted to educate and show that clients shouldn’t have to be fixed with extensions and not every client can be. We didn’t place the wefts as far forward as possible because her hair wasn’t healthy enough to support it. Extensions shouldn’t be used to cover up mistakes, breakage or unwanted tones in the hair. Additionally, there needs to be a time when the hairstylist recognizes that something is no longer healthy for the sake of the clients hair. Healthy hair is always our priority as it should be.

K R I S T Y | goals: thickness, length, seamless grow out + get rid of as much warmth as possible. Due to breakage, no bleach was used on her previously lightened hair. Instead we added lowlights to break up the grow out and give her a more dimensional root, and only lightened the areas that were warm from color.
