Radish Microgreen Mix!

Its so pretty & delicious ! We have some almost ready to harvest in a day or two.

Radish Microgreens taste like a peppery radish bulb. You might think that a radish microgreen looks leafy and would taste similar those green leaves that come attached to full grown radish bulbs, but the radish microgreen tastes more like the bulb than those hairy and tough radish greens. The beauty of the radish microgreen is that you can get that same peppery radish punch, in the form of a delicate and crunchy tiny plant. Where you might not want to eat radish slices on your next (veggie) burger the radish microgreen would make a lovely addition of pepper, texture, and color. You can even substitute microgreens for the lettuce on your favorite sandwich to bring a serious flavor enhancement.

Radish are high in vitamin K, Vitamin C, Beta Carotein, and Vitamin E. Green Daikon radish is especially high in Vitamin E!

Why Microgreens?

Since their introduction to the Californian restaurant scene in the 1980s, microgreens have steadily gained popularity.

These aromatic greens, also known as micro herbs or vegetable confetti, are rich in flavor and add a welcome splash of color to a variety of dishes.

Despite their small size, they pack a nutritional punch, often containing higher nutrient levels than more mature vegetable greens. This makes them a good addition to any diet.

While their nutrient contents vary slightly, most varieties tend to be rich in potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper.

Microgreens are also a great source of beneficial plant compounds like antioxidants.

What’s more, their nutrient content is concentrated, which means that they often contain higher vitamin, mineral and antioxidant levels than the same quantity of mature greens.

In fact, research comparing microgreens to more mature greens reports that nutrient levels in microgreens can be up to nine times higher than those found in mature greens.

Research also shows that they contain a wider variety of polyphenols and other antioxidants than their mature counterparts.

One study measured vitamin and antioxidant concentrations in 25 commercially available microgreens. These levels were then compared to levels recorded in the USDA National Nutrient Database for mature leaves.

Although vitamin and antioxidant levels varied, levels measured in microgreens were up to 40 times higher than those recorded for more mature leaves .

Microgreens deliver a concentrated dose of nutrients and beneficial plant compounds. As a result, they may reduce the risk of certain diseases like Heart Disease, Alzheimer's, Diabetes, and certain cancers.

Alfalfa Microgreens.....A nutritional powerhouse!

Alfalfa microgreens are a rich source of Vitamin A, C and K which nourish skin tissues and safeguard the skin against free radical damage. Vitamin E is a good antioxidant that also helps in maintaining the level of Vitamin A, according to Harvard Health Publications, records Huffington Post.

Alfalfa promotes enzyme secretion, regulates metabolism and speeds up the recovery of dead or not-so-useful cells or tissues. It also helps to reduce the risk of breast cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases. They are also recognized as the best cholesterol-lowering food.

Radish Microgreens? Add flavor, texture, color, nutrition, and fun to your life!

Microgreens as type of food are winning the nutrition race across the board. A thorough 2012 study published by the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (July) analyzed the vitamin concentrations in 25 varieties of commercially available microgreens. The study determined that the varieties of radish are high in vitamin K, Vitamin C, Beta Carotein, and Vitamin E. Green Daikon radish is especially high in Vitamin E!
