In Fort Worth this Saturday for an engine swap in this old school bus.
This could go a number of ways so come and help or bring some popcorn and watch the show. You’re sure to pick up a few new phrases either way.

“What are these fools up to” is a valid question/concern.

Hi all!
This Saturday we will be in East Dallas to hopefully finish up a project we’ve been working on.
Paint the shed we restored. Replace a water spigot. Remove old and install new wall paneling in a bedroom we had to make a mess in to rid it of mold.
And if there’s time, and enough instructional YouTube videos, do some masonry work at two spigots :)

Could use some help. Text or email [email protected]

Yesterday we replaced 4 ceiling fans and two ac window units for a family in Fort Worth. Was so hot in that house when we started but was cooling nicely when we left.

Lots of things we take for granted are a luxury to others.

In Dallas today. Incredible how a clogged gutter can lead to such damage. It lead to sediment washing up too close to the slab and eventually close to the top. There the water pooled and soaked in under the bottom plate and along the wall. The mold was terrible. I was sneezing and had shooting abdominal pains for an hour after I left. Can’t imagine sleeping in this room.

Good thing is we diagnosed it, repaired it and treated the mold. No pics of finish product I’m afraid. Was not touching my phone with all of the mold on me.

This sums up the first part of today……

This past Easter Sunday we also knocked out this fence having started over from scratch. Grateful for the help of in-laws of the senior homeowner we were helping 🙏🙏

This coming Sunday we’re needed at 3-4 houses. If you can help, we really need it. Plumbing and electrical work, fridge swap, dishwasher swap, possible water heater swap and other handy work.

It’s that time of year where we are squeezed for help and time but the requests keep coming….

Back in Dallas today. Here’s a little bit of what we did today.
Yes that’s grass growing in the wall!! Removed the bad siding, sheathing and insulation and replaced with new.

Had lots of help today and we needed every bit of it to get folks home to their families for dinner. Happy Easter!!

The gang made quick work of this downed structure. Digging holes and setting poles for the new fence in progress.

Fencing tomorrow if you want to help out!

Photos from Neighbors Helping Neighbors's post 26/03/2024

This coming weekend our priority will be the demo of this structure and building a fence across the alley to help keep unwanted visitors out of the back yard.

We could use all the help we can find. It’s in Dallas, basically mesquite. Come and go as you please. I know it’s Easter weekend but….

Picked up a fridge in Keller this morning and delivered and installed to a .farm family in Fort Worth. They’ve been using coolers for a couple of days at least.
Fortunately since I was ⚾️busy these two bosses stepped up and handled it.

This coming weekend will be our last big weekend until July when I finally free up for good. Then it’s on!

Today we went and fixed a water leak under the house. The family has been without hot water since January. The water heater wasn’t working either but that was a tripped breaker.
We swapped out the kitchen and bathroom lights and replaced a vanity faucet. All three only worked when they felt like it.
Despite the pics, our master everything, Randy, did all the work. I just come in and touch the fixtures while he takes pics then he finishes them up. It works….

This picture sums up the scenario when all 8 letters of the MBTI inventory are mixed in just two people.

I know that look on my face seems to show me calculating how much gas is left in the chainsaw but I swear, 🤞🏽, it’s not. Nothing but love….😂

Rained out today. Doing plumbing and electrical tomorrow in Fort Worth starting around noon if you want to help/learn.

More from this past Saturday. We had 20 total show up with more than half associated with players/parents/coaches.

They worked hard on their first day of spring break!

Sunday funday…..

This is one of the 3 projects we handled this past Sunday. Neighbor had a dead tree with parts resting on the roof.

I see nothing sketchy here….

This past Saturday we called in the troops. The transformation isn’t captured very well in these pictures but in person it’s unreal.

These volunteers came out and in no time made a huge difference for this family.
We’ve been here off and on for weeks and this part of the job was weighing on me. So grateful they answered the bell.
Much more pics of this day but this will do for now!

What a weekend we had!!!!
From 20 volunteers on Saturday to three jobs on Sunday….despite the time change I’m going to bed early tonight!!

Instead of posting from this weekend, (I will this week) I’m going to post about 3 projects that came in just today and also a little bit about our mission moving forward. The photos speak for themselves.

To date, which is 4 years this week, we’ve basically worked around my baseball schedule. We go hard Dec/Jan and July/August and what we can the rest of the time.

Over the past couple of years I’ve felt the love and support for NHNTx through expanding donations and volunteers. I realize we could be/do so much more and that’s the plan.
I made the decision to stop coaching baseball on weekends so I can devote my non work time fully to serving those in our community.
I love baseball. Not the game you see on tv but the unseen strategy of the game.
I love coaching. I love teaching.
It’s all I ever wanted to do…..until now.
After this baseball season ends in late June, I’m fully devoting my free time to raising us up and meeting the needs of our neighbors.

We are also expanding our services but I will hold that for a later date as it’s an undertaking.

For now, please know that even though I’m inept at expressing my emotions, I see you. I know who has our back and I love you for it. For someone who struggles so much socially, this support is everything.

Hello!

This Saturday we will be in Fort Worth from 10am-2pm doing some yard work and clean up.

Thanks to a couple of volunteer coaches with we have some ball players starting their spring break helping others. We have room for more!!!

Today we were in Fort Worth doing some siding repair. This 90 year old house doesn’t have wall insulation but we added where we could.
Also tore out and covered up an old unused exterior door.

We’ll be in Fort Worth this coming Saturday and Sunday as well.

Photos from Neighbors Helping Neighbors's post 02/03/2024

We went back today to install a new door on the repaired storage shed.

Siding and plumbing tomorrow in Fort Worth 10am-@2-3pm.
If you’re available give us a shout!

Yesterday we were in Fort Worth helping a single mom with three kids. Phase one was more clean up and discovery than anything.

The house is 90 years old and everything that could go wrong, has. We need helpers from clean up to electricians, plumbers and carpenters.

They even had an attic fire this week from the old wiring being taxed. Fortunately one of the kids raised the alarm and the fire department got there before any structural damage was done.

They are currently without hot water as well. I did discover a leak under the house (last pic) but it’s not related. I got the gas heater to fire up but hot water is not getting to the faucets.
The central air system does not work either.

We will do what we can to make the house safe for this family.

More from this past Sunday.
We were fortunate to have the volunteers to get this far in one day. And extremely lucky to have my brother and his work ethic and knowledge there as well.

Try as we might we just couldn’t save that old door so we’ll have to go back for that, the rest of the trim and paint.

Just when it looked like we were caught up going into our slow season, we’ve been bombarded with requests over the last week.
We’ll be at it each weekend for the next month trying to get caught up so if you have some free time and want to help out, please text me or email at [email protected]

A little bit of what transpired today. I underestimated the damage to the flooring.
I hoped for the best but with something like this you don’t know the extent of the damage until you break it open.

The electric from the house couldn’t keep up with our demands so we had to get a generator. (Something we’ve needed but just another slow down)

Was fortunate to have some warriors out today and even had to call in reinforcements once the electric went down.

More tomorrow….done with this day

This morning we went back to a house where we did work back in July. It was minor stuff as has been the case over the last couple of months.

I’ve been told I should post these things anyway so here you go. Please don’t get overstimulated…….

Nailed up soffit around the house.

Door not staying shut so we took the trim off, added a shim, and replaced the trim. Sexy, I know.
Enjoy….

Hi all,

We’re going to be in Bedford this Saturday 9am to maybe 11-12pm? Standard honey do list type stuff.

Then in south Dallas, Sunday, working on the shed pictured above. The floor has collapsed and the structure is tilting. We’ll take it down to the studs, shore it up and put new siding/trim/paint.

Looking for some help both days.

Text me if available or email [email protected]

We also tackled a decent sized limb that had rotted and collapsed.
We had our newest volunteer, Garrison, handle the bulk of it. As you can see by the helmet he’s equipped and ready!
(I was too jealous to take a pic of the different chainsaws he had out.)

I was surprised by how much mulch came from this project. It was spread around the entire front of the house(just a small portion pictured)

For the record, Tim decided to show off his strength by collecting the mulch like that for about an hour to make it easier to get in the wheelbarrow. I may ask people to work on holidays but would never ask this…. :)

Videos coming in separate post as FB doesn’t allow a mix of pics and videos.

Some of what we did today. I was concerned about this going into a second day but these volunteers came to work! Familiar faces today including Erin of fame and a new face we’ll introduce tomorrow.

Still some trim at the top of the fences but that’s on me for not having the material there. The important part of the weekend was securing the backyard.

Special thanks to Ashley at for providing much needed fuel at no charge to get us through the day. ❤️❤️

Howdy all!!
We’ll be in south Fort Worth this weekend and need some help.
The plan is to send some brush through a chipper and do some *minor* fence repair.

We could really use some help to help keep this neighbor from being fined by the city of Fort Worth on Monday.
This can be done in one day but with the weather being iffy on Saturday, the plan is to gather troops for both days.
Please text me or email at [email protected] if available for even a couple of hours.

*minor*= A ton

Borrowed this but it sums it up. Also, if you need spigot covers just reach out to us. Check on your neighbors, always, but especially the more vulnerable ones these next several days 🥶🥶🥶🥶

Thank you for an amazing day! We’ve had over 30 donors get us so close to our goal.
I recall last year at this time feeling the support from this day and just wanting to do nothing else but work harder for those that need us.

It’s all thanks to our supporters. We are committed to serving and making sure our donors see where every dime goes.

We hope to make you proud by assisting those that need help.

We have some lofty goals for 2024 including not only expansion of services and who we help, but also when. Right now the bulk of our work comes in the baseball offseasons(July-August, Dec-Jan) but through some sacrifice the plan is to be available each weekend.

Whether we fall short of our funding goal or go past tonight, we are excited as ever for the opportunity to continue moving forward.
