This year we decided to start the majority of our garden from seed, and sell the extra plants so that not only can we try some of these different varieties but so can you!! 🖤😁🖤
There are a few mixed trays and a bunch of singles as well. So long as everything goes well I will post what’s available in about a month. Some of the herbs I’m starting are not found in stores at all here and I’m very excited to get them growing in the witchy garden!! Marshmallow, saint johns wort, pink dandelions and purple/pink yarrow to name some of my favorites!!
Hey ghouls!!
I got a whole mess of dark colored plants for your unique garden coming this spring. Plants are limited, these are heirloom seeds so you can grow your own if you keep back some in fall! IF gardening isn’t your thing we will be offering extra produce as well.
I’m so excited to start this warm season!! What are you most looking forward to about spring?
Or the homesteading mom?
So whenever someone moves to the country they ask what to do about the pests and I always say a good working cat or two will help immensely. We had both the current barn cats to the property have litters this spring so my little goblins of course laid claim to them and now we have our own working cats getting established. Meet Oni, my personal pick of the litters.
We also butchered the meat pens this week and have those in the freezer. Fall litters are always rough because if the weather turns before we cull at the end of fall/early winter then none of us wants to be out there doing it and they go as snake food instead. Hoping for a good round of litters for the beginning of September.
I try and use everything so I’m also trying my hand at tanning the pelts so we can have those for use as well, wish me luck!
Tomatoes, beans, peas and cucumber yay!!! Now if I can just keep up with preserving!

Emmi on TikTok Zucchini joins the asparagus in the freezer!! For my first year really doing this im pretty happy with hownits going.
4H fair is finally wrapped up!! The boys did alright with their meat pens and both sold at auction for a nice little premium to use toward their goals for next year. Corbin took BOB with Rocket, his mini rex buck and zaidens single fryer took third even though it was not colored well.
I highly encourage you to support your local 4Hers by participating in their livestock auction. Especially with rabbits the kids don’t see the same kind of excitement since it isn’t as normalized as a meat as beef or pork but they poor a lot of effort into their projects just the same.
Most exciting chicken day ever!! Had this weirdo drive me out to pick up some cute little Ayam Cemani chicks. These chickens have hyperpigmentation making them solid black including internal organs. How neat is that?
Vegetables are coming in!! Now I have to try my hand at canning. Lottie is so excited to start picking things, both kiddos love the produce from the garden.
Here is a fun project I’m starting. Vintage chicken coop makeover is about to get underway!!
Found a pickling cucumber while doing the night watering in the garden. Looks like it’s about to a busy time harvesting if they are starting already!
What have you got going in your garden right now?
What is your favorite crop to grow?
So those that know us know we got a new puppy when we moved. Despite having a fully enclosed run and locked door we went with cheap whatever chickens mostly because accidents with puppies happen. And sure enough they did and we were left with 4 hens and no rooster which is not quite enough for us as a family let alone enough to share with others as well.
Then avian flu shut down everything bird related so outside of a large hatchery order we were stumped how to increase our flock. What’s a girl to do?
Old school hit up the classifieds and viola! Barnyard mix chicks and extra hatchery order chicks plus a couple Guinea as alarm bells since they are all moving out to pasture. We will give everyone a roll call video for them soon. For now here is there group welcome home chicks shot! I bet you can guess which ones I picked vs picked for the kids lol.

Good morning!! We finally got a little bit of rain last night though let’s hope to get a good soaking soon. Regardless of mother natures choice to withhold water the plants are all doing well….mostly well but that’s another post soon.
The goats are growing so big!! Wednesday is catching up to her brother, who was last years baby. Snickers is still a little guy but he loves to play.
Oh and the barn cat is successfully raising this litter now that I caught her in time and have them crated together. She is a good barn cat but a terrible mother and I’m so glad we can get her fixed after this litter. All these kittens will also be fixed using the TNR program and found homes as working cats.
Vegetable plants are growing great!! The asparagus is just starting to slow and the strawberries are coming in beautifully. I hope everyone else has had a wonderful spring and is ready for summer because that heat is moving in!!
