I am really blessed to have met in his yoga therapy teaching training earlier, through which I have learned how to help people around.

My god father is a great Japanese chef. Behind all the delicious dishes he’s made, he has been suffering from lower back pain and couldn’t sleep well for years. Worse still, he had a surgery on his lumbar spine about a year ago which has affected his body mobility further.

During my recent visit to his home in Sapporo (haven’t seen him and my god mother for almost 2 years due to COVID), we had a 30-40 min yoga therapy session every night in which I focused to work on his neck, shoulders, chest and back.

We were so happy to see the improvements (swipe to see the pics taken from Day 0 to Day 5):

After the therapy he’s able to

- sleep tight
- extend his neck easily (he could hardly extend his neck when at the beginning)
- stand/sit upright without pain
- raise up his arms next to his ears without pain
- feel the lightness on his back

I am so grateful to visit him after the TT. Surely this is what I want to do more in my yoga journey.

Happy Mother’s Day❤️

May I take this chance to thank my mom for bringing me to this world to explore and experience everything including yoga.

Everybody is unique, so as our yoga journey. My journey in arm balance has never been easy, yet the JOY when everything is put together in the right timing and efforts is enormous.

It’s a real ‘mission impossible’ for me - it took me a year to find the balance point given my anterior pelvic tilt and heavier lower body in proportion. If you know, you know.

The joy of accomplishing this ‘mission’ is tremendous, honour my body for opening up the space and all the possibilities for me. May there be more miracles unlocked 😛

The Straight Line

關於Yin Yoga陰瑜伽...

最近發現原來有很多人對Yin Yoga陰瑜伽的瞭解不多,甚至會有些誤解。有人會覺得練習Yin節奏慢不會出汗好「hea」,又或者覺得練習過程中因為肌肉不會收緊,會容易受傷 (以前也曾經有人叫我不要做Yin Yoga)......,令我想在這裡分享少少我對Yin Yoga的認識,它由來和原理:

Yin Yoga 陰瑜伽是由美國人Paul Grilley創立,他本是一位醫學博士,後來成為了瑜伽導師,將自己的瑜伽修習經驗和醫學人體結締組織研究結合,陰瑜伽就此誕生。後來他再和研究心理學的Sarah Powers一起推廣陰瑜伽,將陰瑜伽進一步系統化,變成一個獨立的流派。

陰瑜伽練習強調將身體放鬆,以被動方式,在每個式子中停留3至8分鐘,在肌肉放鬆的狀態下,利用地心引力和自身重量,伸展肌肉纖維和結締組織 (如: 筋膜、肌腱、韌帶),打開並滋潤關節,柔軟結締組織,活化內臟。(要注意的是,因為每個式子停留時間較長和在肌肉放鬆狀態下進行,我們進入式子時程度只會去到我們盡全力的70%左右,以達最佳效果。)

在練習過程中,透過緩慢、細微幾乎無聲的呼吸,自然不刻意地帶動胸廓及橫膈膜的開展,讓我們可以放鬆、穩定地停留在式子中,清空一切雜念,釋放積聚體內的壓力,啟動自療機制,重拾內心平靜。

所有結締組織都需要有適當的壓力才會健康,擁有健康的結締組織有助減低我們受傷的機會。而透過陰瑜伽各種式子的長時間停留,除了可以給結締組織施予適當的壓力性和張力性負荷,還可以鍛鍊我們關節裡僵硬的、水分和血液回流不多的結締組織,打開關節,讓裡頭的滑液充份分泌,為身體活動創造更多空間。

一般運動和陽瑜伽過程中,肌肉會收緊,結締組織無法在同一時間完全地延展。因此結締組織和肌肉不可能在同一時間,用相同方法發展。瑜伽本身強調的是,體內不同組織須陰陽平衡,所以我們不能只鍛鍊肌肉,練習陽瑜伽的同時也需要陰瑜伽,兩者平衡才會健康。

Love sharing my singing bowls’ energy with the babies.

Besides the relaxation and rejuvenation, I am also able to connect more with these babies through the vibration of each bowl, as they would tell me how the babies feel and what I need to focus more during the session. It’s a blessing 💕

For me tripod is very challenging as my shoulders were always shrinking and I had no idea on how to engage my arms in that shape...

This is my first time to pike up, still need to work on the details and awareness in this pose... but, feeling happy with my progression 🙂
