It's been a busy and productive spring so far. There have been odd weather events, struggles with germination, deer eating our crops....you name it. But we just keep on going. Our most recent accomplishments include planting corn and sweet potatoes. And installing drip irrigation. And check out our recycled plant displays made from free pallets. We lined the bottom with empty soil and fertilizer bags to keep weeds from growing up.

I know it's been a minute since I posted on here. There has been a lot still going on in the background though. I've started okra, some squash and cucumber seeds, although a mouse ate some, sigh. Potatoes are popping up and I hoed two rows today. The peach trees are done blooming. Baby collards, broccoli and cauliflower were planted. It seems as if spring has sprung.

We are trying to get 100 pounds of potatoes in the ground, as well as various other projects. Like moving and adding fences, building raised beds, starting more seeds, and pruning. Its a lot to manage!

We started cutting our seed potatoes yesterday. Now if this rain would let up. We hope to plant this weekend!

It was a busy but beautiful day on the farm. I began pruning the orchard, clearning the fence line, planted some beet seeds and fertilized the greenhouse plants.

Farming is always an adventure in trial and error. No matter how long you've been doing it. The deer and cold wet weather have reaked havoc on the winter crops. Hopefully the plants in the greenhouse will make it until planting time. And there's still 100 pounds of seed potatoes to plant. If the ground will just dry out.

I cleaned the garden some and fertilized just before the rain arrived. We have damage from Deer and cold weather. I dont even know if fertilizing was worth it. Days of rains are coming. Deer could just wipe what's left out. But that's farming. You do what you can and what you know is right. And you see what happens. Even when you don't feel like it. The leaves I picked off will go to a neighbors pigs along with indoor food scraps. Farm life. Trial and error. Experience is the best teacher.

Propagation is in the works. No Emersion of seedlings yet. Today I'm starting more succulents, rooting citronella and dibbling up a couple jalapenos and basil. I may even experiment with rooting a tomatoe cutting.

While it's been so cold we have slowed down a bit. However there have still been accomplishes made. Last Saturday we burned debris all day. Yesterday was an errand day and we came home with 100 pounds of seed potatoes and 5 pallets for farm projects. And also cuttings of chocolate mint and lemon balm to propagate! Is it spring yet?!

The new greenhouse is set up with the tables now. Ill be starting seeds this coming week! Hurry up spring!

If you have an overabundance of tomatoes but have no time for canning, you just freeze them! Thaw in a sink of hot water and the skins will just peel off. I made spaghetti sauce today!

Winter time work here on the farm. We had some land cleared and another greenhouse brought out. Now we have to work on clearing debris, decide what to use the new space for, and build tables to go in the greenhouse. We are busy growing from the ground up!

Its Monday...again! I'd like to welcome all the new page followers. Thank you for observing our farming adventures. Today Im a teacher, not a farmer. Its not ideal, or easy for me to teach 1st grade. But it may be the most important job I've ever tried to do! Our children are the future!

Slowly tip-toeing into 2021. The plants have survived in the greenhouse. I started propagating a tray of succulents today. I have a bunch more yet to do!
