Let's normalize asking ourselves what might make us feel lit up and ALIVE and not just what we're usually taught like:
what will pay the bills?
what will make me feel like I fit in?
what will make me feel safe?
what will most people in my life approve of?
Try it. Ask yourself a better question when you're thinking about a decision in your life. You don't have to make the decision based on your answer, but you do have to consider the possibility of "what would happen if you did...".
Let's talk about it. I want to hear your thoughts on this.
xo
Lizzie
Let's normalize asking ourselves better questions in life.
Our brains already ask the usual ones on autopilot...
Which option will pay the bills?
Which option doesn't scare me?
Which option feels easiest?
Which option will everyone else approve of?
Which option will make me not look silly?
The missing metric and key question is: what would happen if the only "problem" I was trying to solve was how to feel the most alive in life.
How do I feel the most lit up, excited and alive?
Which option would I choose if I just based my decision on how to have more creative joy in my life?
You don't have to actually decide the thing, but what would it be like to even just give it a moment of consideration.... Because solving the problem from fear, stress, or people pleasing usually leads to burnout pretty quickly.
I'd love to hear what you think about this. Do you ask yourself better questions than what your brain is defaulting to? Or would you like to start?
This is a key question to feast on your life... I can't wait to hear thoghts on it.

Which is your favorite? I kind of love them all!!!

Sedona, with this crew of wild and wonderful women, was stunning, amazing and unforgettable. Iām home and basking in the magic of the past week. is the š£. I have much more to say about being in an incredibly supportive group while leveling up in your life, but Iāve got a full day of clients ahead, sooooo for now, Iāll just soak up some of these favorite moments from the BBMM retreat weekend.
It was truly a feast on life (and magic and wonderful food and laughter and business!!).
Have you ever been to Sedona? What did you think of it?
I drove through one time 28 ish years ago in the way to the Grand Canyon. I had to cancel on a writing retreat I was supposed to attend years ago when my life was chaos. And now I finally got to spend time there. It was a thousand times more spectacular than I had remembered.
It was well worth the wait to go back with an incredible flock of females.
Melanie, Iām still in awe of this AWEsome group you have brought together. Thank you for your wise coaching and for taking care of everything! You are a gem of a human and coach.
Yes life feast retreats are in the business plan for 2023 - Sedona is definitely a place Iād happily go back to!
ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
pretty amazing to be here for the game AND girls hockey night. Love that we ran into some of Steamboatās best hockey players too.
What are the first three words that you see? Write them in the comments with what resonates about the message.
I saw focus, joy and DANCE. Itās actually the word āabundanceā in full, but I saw the dance portion.
Love this! My marching orders for the rest of the month.
Iāve actually thought a lot about taking a dance class - I guess now is the time. Or maybe Iāll just dance on the pickleball court as thatās also calling my name!
I received an awesome life feast request from someone wanting to join to bring in more joy in their life. I loved reading the text! Yes life fest is a joy amplifying dance with the creative life.
And focus. Always a challenge in this beautiful busy life of mine. We had an incredible chat on Wednesday with Mandy Seligman on the living chaos of a fulfilling life. Iām in the midst of it for sure. But my kids are older so there is more room for me to focus on my projects, I just need to retrain my fractured attentionā¦ or set my focus on my values and go from there.
Words to live by this month! How about you? What are the first three that you see and what. Oils they mean for you?
Happy Friday.
Have you ever looked under the "hood" of motherhood and wondered who am I, anymore? I haven't seen "me" in a while, though I think my soul might be buried under a pile of laundry or a science project somewhere.Ā
š· pc Mandy Seligman
Parenthood isĀ an interestingĀ paradox. Itās beautiful, fulfilling, loving, stressful, exhausting, humorous, frustrating, terrifying and joyful all at the same time ... sometimes all in the same hour!Ā
As busy mothers, taking care of our share (and then some), we can lose ourselves along the way.
Remember those invisible mothers from Victorian photos I shared with you two weeks ago? It's an irony both metaphorical and literal.Ā This week, in The Life Feast, I have an incredible special guest, who will be talking with us about how she found herself through photography.Ā
Mandy Seligman is a mom of five, a homeschooler, a wife, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter, and she is also she is also a developmental psychologist, an award-winning black and white photographer, & founder of the non-profit organization,Ā .happy š¤³.Ā
If her name sounds familiar, it might be because she has also spent the last thirty years spreading Positive Psychology around the world with her husband, Martin Seligman (founder of Positive Psychology).
On Wed, Oct 19, in The Life Feast, Mandy will be sharing her photographic stories of a search to find herself amidst the loving chaos of a big family and a full life.
Mandy will share with us how she uses photography not only as a means to prioritize the good to create a happier life, but as a way to live a fully and creatively expressed life, even amidst the joys, stresses and demands of career and family.
Photography not only ticks all the boxes of how to put a flourishing life into practice (focus on what makes our lives happy, appreciative and meaningful), but it's also an art form made for motherhood.Ā It is a way to see and savor what we have created, and it's a creative tool that we can use to find ourselves in our own stories.
If you want to attend live or get the recording hit šin bio).
Did you know that women used to literally have to blend into the background for the sake of a portrait of their children.
Slow exposures in 19th century photography meant that children had to stay still for long periods of time.
Photographers would drape a mother with black cloth or fabric to match the furniture, then place a child in her lap for the long exposure.
She had to be invisible for the portrait.
While we don't have to pretend we are the furniture, these days (thank God!), women are STILL absent from camera rolls.
We tend to the be ones orchestrating the photo in the first place. In many families, we are the family archivist, which means we are missing from the family photos, we throw throw dad into the mix for an unbalanced retelling of our role in the family.
And when we do make an appearance in a family photo, a lot (all?) of us berate ourselves into oblivion, critiquing our bodies, our wrinkles, our everything.
Maybe it is just easier to be the one taking the picture.
But this is colossal BS.
Being a part of our own history is crucial to our wellbeing.
Ahem. Cough. Cough. WE MATTER.
And goodness, allowing our kids to savor the role that we played in the family years and years from now is important to THEIR wellbeing.
We don't want to have to say, oh hey I was also at your second or twenty-second birthday, even though there's no evidence of it, I was there, I was just the one taking all the pictures.
In the Life Feast this month, we are having a SELFIE LOVE revolution.
Because it's time for us to be visible in our lives.
We have a LIVE workshop, tomorrow (Friday, Oct 7) with photographer and spiritual psychologist, Lucia Doynel to rectify this and help us put ourselves in the picture.
Whether it's as simple as figuring out how to work the self timer on our phone, learning to pose and light ourselves so that we feel good about ourselves on the outside or doing the self love work to shine from the inside, we'll be doing it, tomorrow and working on this all month.
If you've been curious about joining The Life Feast, now is the time to jump in. YOU matter.
Being in your own HERstory matters.

This is how easing back into life feels right now. I miss Will. I am so tired.
Getting back to ānormalā takes a huge effort. And maybe I donāt want normal ever again. My perspective has changed A LOT in the last 11 days. I guess I wonāt struggle against it, anymore. Quiet Nudges were always there, now they are LOUD.
As a side note, Thank you to my beautiful hubs for remembering our 24th anniversary. I had no idea what the date was today and woke to a surprising and confusing card to celebrate us. Confusing as I had no idea it was already sept 13th.
All the big and little meaningful life moments deserve celebrating ā¦ because this is how we feast on life.
But rest is a part of it, too. Time for more restā¦
I just want to thank everyone for your kind words and messages and support. If I havenāt returned your texts, I will soon.
This beautiful person left this earth a week ago, today. It was the most devastating news I have ever heard. I have much more to write and say, but I am wiped out. Tomorrow is his celebration of life service. And let me just say that this extraordinary of a life can barely be contained by one auditorium or by 1 hour! Will was an exceptional human with an unmatched zest for life. I adored him to pieces. He was my nephew. Please look out for us will as we attempt to carry on your living your inspiring adventures. I miss you so much. More words to come, first a beautiful service. Tomorrow at 4pm at Colorado Academy. hold us in your hearts, itās been an incredibly difficult week especially for his parents and his sister. xooxx. Hug your loved ones ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
I bought the game We're Not Really Strangers 10 days ago for my Life Feast party at my house. This is a game about creating meaningful connections with strangers.
When I opened it up, I found this hand-written note inside. It read:
I have found there are two ways to play this game:
1) Play safe.
2) Play to grow.
The second is how you win.
-WNRS
This sums up why I do the work that I do.
Because we can play it safe in life or we can play to grow. But in my experience, the growth path is definitely how you win.
And what do you win?
A meaningful, fulfilling, regret-proof life that is filled with ups and downs, trials and tribulations, challenges and championships.
The growth path is not the safe path. It's not the easy path. It's the road less traveled but it comes with more meaning, more purpose, more presence and, dare I say, more fun.
But we don't call it an AFGO (another f*ckin' growth opportunity) for nothing.
Which is why having a coach is key for this pivotal time in life. Because white knuckling your way through the growth to your dreams by yourself is much harder and infinitely more painful than it needs to be.
When we coach together, your fears don't get to override what you want for your big, bold, badass life. When you're on your own, fears can get in the way pretty damn fast.
If you are ready to stop playing it safe and take the road that's less traveled, but much more meaningful, send me a dm for my coaching 1:1 details and if Iām not the right fit, I most likely know someone who is. But having a coach should be non negotiable.
So which way are you going to play this half of the game?
Playing it safe āor playing to grow??? ā°
2022 vs 2015 ā¦ spent over 6 hours doing sand mandalas with the Drepung Losaling monks who were visiting Steamboat. I could not get her to leave back then. She loved the monks and the mandalas. She was 10.
Last week, at 16, she was picking me up and driving me home and we stopped by the to see the monks during the last hour of their creation.
She had been working all week so hadnāt seen them yet.
She loved it all over again, she even said she needed to fix other peopleās messy work (probably mine!).
I love savoring her little hands complete with water slide wrist bands and savoring the grown up version with jewelry, camp friendship bracelets and rodeo bands.
Thank you to my phone camera for freezing time.
Both the mandala and these moments definitely remind me that time is flying by, itās so good to slow down because this beautiful life of ours is one big giant gift of impermanence. šæ
Ps thereās also a cute pic of in here too as a10 year old.
If you've ever wondered all the amazingly creative things you can do with your iPhone ... here's how to change the f-stop and blur the background more/less in portrait mode. It's easy, makes a huge creative difference, yet most have no idea this is possible.
If you want more of this plus ALLLLL my creative joy and positive psychology (plus incredible guest teachers, the amazing community, the best sandbox to get out of perfectionism and ME), then hop in Life Feast, because you need this NOW, and you will love it. See you inside.
And this is seriously just a teeny tiny appetizer bite of the feast of what I'm all about...
Donāt call it a comeback, Iāve been here for yearsā¦ šš¶
Iām an OG on FB š±and a collector of friends in real life (so you might already know all my secrets š¤).
But if youāre brand new to me ā¦ please allow me to introduce myself. š šø
Iām Lizzie Larock š
Iām a champion of creativity šØš·š¤³š, a smasher of self-doubt šØ, and Iām the executive, life and business coach youāve waited half your life for š§ š.
Iām an ace coach š” when it comes to creating a joy-inducing, perfectionism crushing, non people-pleasing, de-stressed version of LIFE that feels like an absolute delicious FEAST
(and not like crumbs, cardboard or lifeās leftovers ).
ā If youāre nodding your head and thinking, Lizzie, please hand me this charcuterie board version of life cause Iām sick of the lunchables version, then have some of my burrata, my friendā¦
Because my mission is to keep people from letting midlife stress, busyness (and socially prescribed roles) turn their big, beautiful life to RUST.
Yes thatās rust not dust ā¦
šI believe you can bury your dreams, but you will bury them ALIVE. šŖ¦
šI believe you get to re-define whatever decade youāre in, no matter how much you have going on.
š I believe you can unsubscribe from playing small and reinvent how life is āsupposed to lookā at any age.
š I believe youāre meant to be more than an uber driver for your offspring.
š I believe you can be a badass at work and love on your family without giving up everything in life that makes you feel like YOU.
š I believe that the real reason you havenāt gotten here on your own is because NOBODY EVER TAUGHT YOU THIS. It wasnāt on the spelling test you aced in 3rd grade. In fact, you got the opposite messaging! Don't make mistakes, be perfect, get straight A's, don't think about yourself until the kids are grown and flown, don't ask for what you need.
š And I believe that if this is our last dance, we need to have enough energy and self-love to strut it up in this half of life Freddie Mercury or David Bowie style!
****My 1:1 coaching clients and Life Feasters are doing exactly this! They are resting like they mean it, playing BIG like life isn't a spectator sport, asking for support, setting boundaries like badasses and CREATING the big feasty life they know is meant for them. They also have massive appreciation for where they've been.
š© Donāt worry, you donāt have to quit your job, sell your kids or move to an island for this to be a reality.
šÆYou donāt have to burn it all down just to feel more lit up.
And itās ok if youāre struggling to discern what you even want right now.
āļøBut itās not ok to let that mean inner critic tell you itās too late, youāre too old or youāre too busy.
ā°Youāre feeling this right now precisely because
THE TIME IS NOWā¦
š©āā¤ļøāš©And Iām on a mission to reconnect you to you to YOU.
Hereās how I can help:
ā”ļøDM me to get on a Zoom so we can redefine what life can look like on your terms (complimentary session).
ā”ļøJoin the Life Feast right => now (itās easy, itās fulfilling, itās the perfect start to tapping back into YOU).
ā”ļøDM me to get on my waitlist for the get out of perfectionism ONLINE workshop that's happening in August. It will be š„ .
Our culture is flawed, but a feasty, fulfilling life is your birthright.
And itās time to stop procrastinating YOU into the next decade.

āŖAnd, most importantly, are you Team Bowie or Team Mercury in Under Pressure. Dah. Dah. Dah. Dah. Duh. Duh??? š©āš¤šŗ
Hi! Iām Lizzie ā¦ š Iād love to know more about you! Please introduce yourself and, of course, are you Team Bowie or Team Mercury?
Iām writing and recording a talk right now on how to be YOU on social media. Not the perfectly polished you, but the whole beautiful and messy human YOU.
I call this being FLAWesome.
Not being awesome in spite of your flaws, but being awesome BECAUSE of your flaws.
Our so called āflawsā are our connection points. If I pretend I am perfect day in and day out, you probably wonāt feel all that connected to me.
But if I share with you my vulnerabilities, my fears, the things that make me HUMAN rather than a Barbie doll, we will probably have a much better chance at a deeper connection.
I am a coach, and Iām proud that Iāve done the work to get myself out of a lot of painful challenges in life.
But I am not here to pretend Iām perfect. I also am a work in progress. I screw up all the time. And I have mostly stopped berating myself for being human.
My work is all about giving us all
=>permission to be human. š
Weird and wonderful, flawed and full of fears, creative and quirky.
I am here for all of it.
I hope you are, too.
Ready to coach with me and love on your whole human self so you can feel an unshakable core of resilience even or especially on the tough days?
I have a few openings for 1:1 clients right now and I expect them to fill quickly. Because this work is profound and lasts a lifetime.
DM me for 1:1 coaching details.
And if you want access to this inner critic smack down talk when Iāve gone back to focusing and have it finished, stay tuned here for how to watch it at the end of August. š»
Letās normalize being FLAWesome
Thereās way too much pressure for all of us to look perfect online and Iām over it.
throw me a heart in the comments if you think being flawesome is a good thing, too.ā¤ļø
All work and no play makes Jack (a dull boy (or a serial killer )ā¦ but seriously all work and no play makes all of us a lot worse than dull!
Did you know that true FUN is the confluence of flow state, connection and PLAY?
If fun feels a little out of practice for you, start with any one of the three. Get yourself some uninterrupted and undistracted flow state time, connect with friends and family or be more playful!
One easy trick I teach in The Life Feast to be more playful is to notice faces in places ā¦ see a funny face in an inanimate object, snap a photo. Savor the silly.
Adulting is serious business, but it doesnāt have to be 24/7.
I had a fun night out connecting with my husband and eating sushi then marveling at rainbows in the rain.
What playful thing are you doing this weekend?
š·by life feaster: Shea Cochran I am still reeling from yesterday. But fortifying with a beautiful day in Colorado and a trip to the movies with my teen daughters. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. We have a big road ahead of us.
Thank you, Shea, for reminding us that thereās so much beauty in the everyday, despite all thatās happening ā¦ these are shadows from her tomato plants and a spot of orange dove when that was our focus and some florgeousness from our May of flowers.
We hit the jackpot with this dadā¦ Happy Fatherās Day to the guy who relentlessly teases us, cooks incredible food for us, supports every interest (including hair dresser dreams), cheers on every sport, drives 6 hours for pointe shoes, golf tournaments, basketball games, goes to every recital and father daughter event and challenges us to do crazy things like paragliding and axe throwing. We love you, Matt Larock. Iām so lucky to have you as my partner in parenting and in life.ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
What???!!! Having a celebratory moment here as Iām one of the cameo guests in a great lineup of coaches on ās podcast.
She is truly one of the most incredible business sales coaches out there, sheās the farthest thing from āsalesyā, her podcast is a leading resource in my industry and here I am sharing embarrassing yet (hopefully) inspirational sh*t about building my 1:1 coaching and life feast membership business ;).
If youāre a Stacey Boehman fan, a coach or an entrepreneur needing some inspiration around business building (because some days it feels haaaarddd), listen in as itās a fabulous episode and Iām so honored to be included.
Thank you, Stacey!
And YES since I donāt have any upcoming doctor appointments to talk about my work (joke from the episode š©ŗš) ā¦ Iāll share here that I am opening two rare one-on-one coaching slots in my business starting June 15, so dm me if you want details on working with me 1:1, and I am about to launch the June summer creative mixtape for The Life Feast membership (so hop in right now because itās the best creative sandbox out there ) AND I am booking corporate creativity and positive psychology workshops for fall (they get rave reviews from very successful companies and sometimes include even more embarrassing yet inspirational stories + Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.
Thanks for sharing in my joy on this, friends! Iāve needed a little extra savoring of the good stuff this week (or pretty much every week š¤Ŗ. šā¤ļø

Did you know the dandelion has been a symbol of light, hope and healing for centuries? Not to mention that they are quite resilient, busting and blossoming through sidewalk cracks and any inhospitable environment. And after they bloom, theyāre a carrier of wishes and magicā¦
Who knew a dandelion could be so pretty? Life feasters knew!
