Hello peeps.. how have y'all been?

If u have a little one that likes to color and also want to sneak in some math activity to help them identify their numbers better, these coloring pages can be of great help.

They keep kids occupied for sometime and also will get them excited to see whats going to be the final outcome.

There are tons and tons of these available for FREE on google. Just search for numbered coloring pages.

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ: THEME - GUESS THE RHYME !!!

There are a few songs that every little one knows and as parents we have listened to these with them endlessly on loop. Many days these are the only songs in our heads :P

I have compiled 5 such songs which you can hear in this link below.

They are instrumental versions of famous nursery rhymes.

After each one, there is a pause and the next one plays . There are 5 songs in total.

Enjoy listening to these and guessing the rhymes with your little one..

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ: THEME - WHERE I LIVE

A few months ago, I read an article about a little kid who was lost in the clothing isle of a popular department store when the mom was shopping.. the frantic mom started looking for her little one everywhere. Meanwhile the staff noticed a frazzled little kid crying and asked her what her name was and her mom/dad's name was. She was all of 3, but was able to tell them hers and their full name loud and clear and they announced it on the speaker system causing their happy re-union.

Its always a good idea for the kid to know parents/guardian's (nanny, grandparents etc) full names, where they live and if they are older, telephone numbers of the parents.

Here we go with today's quiz :

1. What is your full name?

2. What is mommy's and daddy's first and last name ? ( sometimes they just know u are Sue mommy or Rob daddy)

3. Which city do we live in?

4. What is our house address? ( street name and the apartment name/num)

5. What is grandma/grandpa's full name ?

6. Which state do we live in? ( specially useful when we go on vacations)

7. Which country do we live in?

It may be difficult for little ones to grasp the concept of a house, street, city, state, continent etc.

This little activity which i found in a blog could help in this regard.

METHOD:
You cut out papers small to big. You can either draw or print out a house, then the house in a street, then a skyline of a city, then a map of the state , the country and finally the globe and stick them on each of the papers small to big.( see pic) .This gives them perspective and helps introduce them to geography.

You can do a fun activity such as a BLIND TASTE TEST :

In a muffin tray, u can add little bites of cheese, some orange, bit of bread, some honey, pretzels, avocado or anything else that your little one likes. Help them close their eyes, pick the food one by one, taste and guess.!!

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ : THEME - PICTURE QUIZ

Have you ever wondered how much little kids are receptive to the world around them?

When they use a word or expression that you did in the past, you are pleasantly surprised that they heard and caught on to it.

But they are also silently observing all the little things you have and do around your house. Yes...from those paintings on the wall, to the pillow cases, to the muddy foot-mat at the door. They notice everything.

Here is a FUN GAME we tried today --

You go around the house clicking pictures of random things. Around 5 or 6 photographs at first will do. Then show it to your little one and they have to guess what it is and where it is in the house. Its SUPER FUNN.. We ended up playing it so many times..

If your kid is 4 or 5, you can even had them your phone to click the world through their eyes, and you can be the one to guess.

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ: THEME - Money

Its never too early to teach your little ones about money. Studies show that kids who learn about money at a young age are "financially smarter" later on. Here are some tips on how to talk to your little cherubs about money.

1. What is money used for? - To buy clothes, food, books , toys etc

2. How do we get money? - When mommy/daddy go to work , they get paid

3. What is the currency we use called ? - Dollar, Yen, Rupee pound etc based on where you live

We did a fun activity which actually made a difference personally. As you know, little kids don't realize that an Ipad or say your glasses are expensive and they cant throw it around.

So we made some currency of our own.. but..we dint have presidents in our currency.. we had paw patrol :P We made few denominations, 500$, 100$, 10$, 1$ etc. So coloring , craft and stickers check.

Then I kept some household objects and asked the little fella to match the currency to how much he thinks the object would cost. He was shocked that the biggest dollar bill 500 bucks goes to the Ipad and he was like woww.. ipad is sooo "expensive".. He also realised my glasses were a 100 bucks..

He is a little more careful with the ipad and my glasses these days so yay to that !! Do give it a try and let me know if it worked for you!

You could also pretend play that you are a market and he can buy stuff from you.

If they are little older, you can teach them about piggy banks, different denominations, which president is on which bill, how they can save some money and get something for themselves etc..

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ: THEME - Cleanliness

In this post-lockdown world, its going to be all the more important that kids know how to keep themselves and their surroundings clean and hygenic.

So here is a fun quiz on cleanliness and also a way to sneak in those good habits

1. How do we keep our teeth clean ? - by brushing our teeth
twice a day. What do we use to brush? - A toothbrush and
toothpaste

2. How do we keep our body clean? - By taking a shower/bath
everyday using soap.

3. How do we keep our house clean? - First we clean up all the toys/things and put them back in their designated place, and then we vaccum and/or mop the rooms

4. How do we keep our clothes clean? - We wash them using detergent. You can do so by hand or using a washing machine.

5, How do we keep our dishes/bottles clean? - We wash them using a dish soap . Big people can scrub them in the sink or use a dishwasher.

6. How do we keep the streets clean? - By not littering or throwing anything on the road. Always put garbage in the trash can. Also we make sure we put the trash from the house into the garbage can outside so the garbage truck can pick it up and our house will remain clean.

Its always a challenge to get kids to brush, bathe etc until they understand that its a matter of cleanliness . Enforcing it early on will go a long way!

My little one is a space buff and got all right other than the fastest planet!

* Simply drawing a sun and orbits and the 9 planets enables them to understand shapes (ellipse and circles).
* There are plenty of planet themed jigsaw puzzles you can get them. (check pic for melissa and doug planet puzzle which my toddler loves ).
* Youtube has tons of songs on planets and solar system which are really educational.
* You can even make rocket marshmallow snacks or even cakes (check pic for planet themed cake and snack which we made )

TODAY'S TODDLER QUIZ : THEME - TRANSPORTATION

1. What are some vehicles you see on the road ? Cars, buses, trucks, bicycles, motorbikes etc

2. What are some vehicles that can fly? Hotair balloons, rockets, airplanes, helicopters etc

3. Utility vehicles - What vehicle is used to carry the sick to the hospital? what vehicles do the police use? What vehicle do we use to help put out fires?

4. Have you gone in any vehicles? If so, what are they?

5. You can go into car models or models of any transportation that you own.. what car does mommy have? or daddy have?

Many toddlers have a fascination for vehicles.. some like construction vehicles, some like sports cars, some like airplanes.. its definite material for your daily quiz time :)

I had some car stickers which I gave him my little one when he attempted to answer the questions and that put a bigggg smile on his face ! Do share how your sweet kiddos did!

1. How many rooms do we have in our house? ( Count with them, walk into each room and name them)

2. Activities in each room - Which room do we eat/sleep/play/bathe in?

3. Game to play - which room in our house has a clock? Which room in our house has a mirror? which room has a table? and so on...

4. Name some things you would find in a living room? Couch, carpet, telivision , clock etc .
Some things you would find in the kitchen - Pots, pans, stove, oven, utensils etc.

You can do question 4 with each room.

Helps them understand their surroundings better and also makes them associate certain activities with particular rooms.

1. What day is it today? ( Introduce the 7 days of the week. You can also talk about weekdays, weekends, days when you do special activities .. etc)

2. What month is it? ( Introduce the 12 months of the year, month of their bday, mom dad sibling bday etc )

3. What year is it? ( they may not understand what 2020 exactly means, but atleast they will gradually be able to of understand what it means when someone says next year)

4. What season is it ? (Introduce the seasons.. there are many songs available on youtube to learn the seasons, you can tell them what we wear or do in each season)

5. What is the weather like today?

You can show/give them a calendar and let them explore and ask questions.
