Zanap & Angi from our team in Cape Town flying the CANSA flag high šŸ™Œ

We recently received a frantic call from a concerned wife in Ohio in the US about her husband, on his way to visit South Africa, who is an ostomate patient. He forgot his supplies in Ohio!

After many calls, eventually the client could go from Cape Town International airport to our Care Centre in Athlone and collect his supplies required.

Thank you Zanap & Angi who jumped in to help and get this visitor from Ohio on his way.

Stoma (ostomy) supplies and incontinence products can be purchased at most local CANSA Care Centres and from our Stoma Clinics in Cape Town and Pretoria.

CANSA TLC partnered with B-well to produce the booklet, ā€˜Understanding a Childā€™s Dietary Needs When They are Diagnosed with Cancerā€™ for parents to better manage the dietary side effects their children experience while on cancer treatment.

Anina Meiring, CANSA Service Manager: TLC explains, ā€œOur CANSA TLC staff have seen first-hand the common side effects caused by cancer treatment, that children battle with. Parents often feel helpless in the face of nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and other common side effects their children experience, which in turn affects childrenā€™s appetite and general well-being. The purpose is to help parents manage these side effects and to give them peace of mind. Weā€™re so thankful to B-well for partnering with us on this project and to Megan Pentz-Kluyts for their guidance and input to create this user-friendly resource.ā€

Printed booklets, sponsored by B-well, will be made available for free at all CANSA TLC facilities country-wide while an online version is also available on CANSAā€™s website here: https://cansa.org.za/children-food-and-cancer/

Melanoma Ranks in Top Five Cancers
In May, awareness is placed on Melanoma, currently ranking the fifth most prevalent cancer in men and sixth most prevalent among women in South Africa, according to the National Cancer Registry (2019). Too much sun can be dangerous and even deadly. Globally, itā€™s estimated that over 1.5 million cases of skin cancer (melanoma and non-melanoma combined) were diagnosed in 2020.

Roy Fletcher, (40) from Gauteng says, ā€œI was young when I was diagnosed with melanoma. I was always warned about sunscreen and made sure I had a hat on in the sun and went for regular check-ups at the Dermatologist. Awareness of the sunā€™s effects on my skin was ingrained from then on. Itā€™s really important to educate kids on what to look out for, and at the same time, the parents. I was a carefree kid and if left unchecked, it could have been much worse..."

CANSA encourages men, women and children to be by using an effective sunscreen, applying it correctly and wearing UV protective garments when outdoors.

General Experience of Stakeholders

Stakeholder experience refers to how stakeholders feel about their interactions with your organization ā€” whether positive, negative, or neutral. Each interaction impacts their overall impression of your company and whether they continue to engage with you (or not).

The key dimensions of stakeholder experience are trust, relationships, and value share. With organizations that work to add value, increase trust, and improve relationships will likely improve their overall stakeholder experience.

Stakeholder experience matters because when itā€™s good, you are more likely to get other good outcomes, like:

Recruiting more stakeholders to your list who are willing to receive communication and participate

Encouraging stakeholders to keep opening emails, filling out surveys, and attending your events

Building familiarity and trust with your brand

Build stronger stakeholder relationships

Increasing response rates, which means more feedback and perspectives to help inform your decisions

Motivating stakeholders to stay in touch for potential projects in future

And the above benefits can increase the likelihood of a successful engagement and project.

The Event went great stakeholders attended the event with great numbers, The Department of health showed support and help us for the event to be successful, we were sponsored by Hollard Insurance and it was really impressive and want to keep the good relationship between the organizations. Men and boys who had Cancer and those who don't have showed much love. Suppliers really came through and we appreciate. Volunteers and employees of CANSA are happy.
