I had a perm, and boy do I laugh when I see those old pics. But the interesting thing is that after that perm, my hair has been naturally curly ever since. That perm truly was permanent!

“FAST FACTS” is a fun way to get to know some of my favorite (and some new-to-me) authors. Today, let’s get to know Author Dana Wilkerson. Dana writes sweet, closed-door Throwback RomComs as Dana Wilkerson and the Totally 80s Mysteries cozy mystery series as D.A. Wilkerson. Both series are set in the 1980s.

Here are 10 fast facts:

1. I hated writing when I was in school.
2. I've traveled to 49 US states and 6 continents. I only need to visit Alaska and Antarctica to hit them all!
3. I co-wrote the book that inspired "The Vow" movie, but unfortunately didn't get to meet Channing Tatum.
4. I live in Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains 24/7/365. (If the wind ISN'T blowing, we get worried.)
5. I spent my childhood summers showing sheep at county and state fairs around the Midwest.
6. My Throwback RomComs and Totally 80s Mysteries are set in the 80s, because I have fond memories of my childhood years during that decade, and because it's a fun challenge to write about a time before the Internet and cell phones.
7. My high school job was at my hometown newspaper, where I spent most of my time developing photos in the darkroom and typing handwritten articles into a Macintosh Classic computer.
8. I'm an Enneagram 5.
9. I love road trips. If I can drive somewhere in less than 14 hours, I'll almost always choose driving instead of flying.
10. When it comes to writing, I'm a "pantser." I know very little about what will happen in a book when I start writing it, and I don't outline anything. It's always amazing to me when my books come together in the end.
