Like so many other garments and practices in modern men’s fashion, we can look back to WWII for the birth of the graphic tee. The t-shirt had been around since the late 1800s as an evolution of men’s underwear. Historians generally agree that factory workers in England took union suits — what we call long underwear or long johns today —and cut the lower half off, resulting in something resembling a modern short sleeve henley.

By 1900, clothing companies started selling the first items that look like modern t-shirts. Along with his many other literary and cultural accomplishments, F. Scott Fitzgerland is responsible for the first known printed use of the term t-shirt in his 1920 novel “This Side of Paradise”.

Are you a corduroy connoisseur or are they a pass for you?? Learn about the history of this fabric with us, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

of Corduroy:

Corduroy is a textile with a distinctively raised “cord” or wale texture. Modern corduroy is most commonly composed of tufted cords, sometimes exhibiting a channel (bare to the base fabric) between them. Both velvet and corduroy derive from fustian fabric, is a variety of heavy cloth woven from cotton, chiefly prepared for menswear.

Corduroy is traditionally used in making British country clothing, even though its origin lies in items worn by townspeople in industrial areas. Although it has existed for a long time and has been used in Europe since the 18th century, only in the 20th century did it become global, notably expanding in popularity during the 1970s.

👻 Excited for Beetlejuice II? Us too! 🎬 While we wait for more sandworms and spookiness, let’s talk about one of the most iconic fashion moments from the original Beetlejuice—Lydia’s gothic wedding dress. 🖤

🧥 This red dress, designed by costume designer Aggie Guerard Rodgers, became a symbol of goth fashion in the late ‘80s and beyond. Paired with Winona Ryder’s signature black veil and wide-brimmed hat, it was a look that screamed unconventional and unforgettable. 😍

🎃 So whether you’re channeling Lydia Deetz or just digging through some weird and wonderful thrift finds, remember: strange and unusual is always in style! 🕸️

Fashion and dress wear considerably changed over the years, with luxurious interiors enforcing a stricter dress code that is far removed from the days of wearing a long sleeved denim shirt and baseball hats. Las Vegas saw an influx in celebrities and actors during the fifties and sixties which really brought and element of style and magic and some fashion trends were born during that time.

The original cargo design made its way across the pond during the 1940s, when a similar pair of trousers was adopted by American paratroopers. US Army Lieutenant General William P. Yarborough adopted the design of the 1938 British cargos by taking the loose silhouette and adding extra pockets on both sides. Paratroopers were quite literally thrown out of a plane into action and all the extra spaces meant extra supplies could be carried, allowing for the paratroopers to be better prepared 🪖🔥.

Fringe is back in fashion, but did you know it has a history dating back to 3000 B.C.? Originating in ancient Mesopotamia (now Iraq), fringe adorned garments made of cotton, linen, and silk in various styles—straight, knotted, or uniquely designed. It was so valued that men used their fringes as unique signatures for sealing important contracts!

Native Americans were also early adopters, using leather or suede fringe both decoratively and practically. It helped shed rainwater and was a sustainable way to use excess material, turning it into beautiful accents.

In the 1920s, fringe reached new heights of glamour with loose, luxurious dresses adorned by stars like Joan Crawford. By the 1950s, it took on a rebellious tone on leather biker jackets and became part of Elvis Presley’s iconic look. The 60s and 70s saw a revival, with designers like Yves Saint Laurent and celebrities like Cher embracing the style.

Today, fringe is back on the runways, featured by designers like Derek Lam and Hugo Boss. This timeless trend continues to capture the fashion world’s imagination.

Embrace the timeless appeal of fringe with ZenBlendz! 🌟👖

The story of Nike starts with Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964 by Phil Knight. Back then, Phil Knight had just received his MBA at Stanford following his graduation from the University of Oregon. This left him with two crucial experiences that set the trajectory of his future.

Rewind in history to Knight’s years at the University of Oregon, where he ran for the school’s track and field team. It was here that he met coach Bill Bowerman. Aside from an intensely competitive nature, Bowerman was obsessed with his runners having the best shoes. He was always experimenting with different models — even going so far as to learn from a local cobbler.

Coach Bowerman supported Knight’s venture, believing that German shoes were the best on the market but that they weren’t anything too special to be replicated or even improved on. The two struck a 50-50 ownership deal in their new company, Blue Ribbon Sports, which was established in Eugene, Oregon, on Jan. 25, 1964.
