DOWN BY THE RIVER (5/6): During Saturday morning of ModaLisboa For Good we had the opportunity to work with Ukrainian model Dina Shestopalova. With the help of Anderson Vescah we curated five looks from the “Sangue Novo” designers who represent the next generation of up and coming Portuguese fashion design at .
The weather was a little stormy and rainy, but nevertheless we took the risk to go to one of our favourite spots close to the waterfront, where Lisbon collides with it’s river, Tejo. The “Cais das Colunas” formerly marked the start of the marble steps which originally led up to Lisbon’s Ribeira Palace. For about 250 years it was the main residence of the Portuguese Kings before it got destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, only leaving the columns and stairs to remain until today.
As we photographed, Dina kept dancing angelically for the camera, with the wind and river in harmony, portraying fragility and delicacy in each shot.

MOMU x GROUNDS SNEAKER "HANKY"
This summer, Anwerp Fasion Museum MoMu and Japanese label Grounds .official, present their shoe collaboration named Hanky, with a colourful and eye-catching design, inspired by the fabrics of the study collection in the MoMu library, the sneaker is now available solely in the MoMu Shop. Designed by Grounds founder Mikio Sakabe , a former Royal Academy of Fine Arts student in Antwerp, he studied fashion design before opening his own set of labels.
"Through shoes, we will bring about a new way of communication with the earth. We will make people more aware of the time-gravity link and make them dream of their connection to a higher dimension. Making a shoe where the sole-itself is connected to the earth, with a shape fit for walking, the burden of walking is lifted. The transparent soles of the shoes will have you feeling as if you are walking on air. With a shape that delivers a punch, feel your consciousness flow through the soles of your shoes." — Mikio Sakabe

With this editorial, we are finalizing ZOOT’s Editor’s Pick from the Portuguese SS24 fashion season, which began last year with our three-part series on Lisbon’s Pink Street. The final part was photographed in March, during our stay in Lisbon, the week before ModaLisboa. We decided to change location and worked from our apartment in Escadinhas de São Crispim in Alfama, just next to the famous artistic school of Chapitô.
This final installment features designs from Dino Alves, Valentim Quaresma, Alves/Gonçalves, as well as emerging talents Çal Pfungst, Cristina Neves, House of Wildflowers, and Renato Luis. We accessorized with gold-plated, handcrafted jewelry from Tatá Art Jewelry, inspired by shells and organic forms from the sea and plants.
