Groundwater Craftworks

We're a crazy small studio in Louisa, KY that showcases/sells my family's artwork and creations!

My name is Jacob Wells and for generations, our family has been artists and craftworkers, mostly out of necessity with things like woodworking and sewing. That culmination of generational creativity has led to the creation of this site where we, as a family, can share our craftworks. We are currently working with epoxy resin, alcohol ink, and micro-macrame. We try to make things that are not only

Finally finished our sighted Kentucky cryptids set! It doesn't include all of our awesome cryptids (sorry Lake Herrington Monster, you're still my favorite pig serpent) but I've included the more well known ones! Which are; The Little Green Men of Christian County, The Beast of the Land Between The Lakes, The Pope Lick Monster, The Mothman (fight me), Wendigo, and Bigfoot! These are some of the most detailed engravings I've ever done (I don't even want to say how long some took) so if you have a favorite one let me know!

I've switched all the engravings over to Etsy because I get really consistent sells over there so if you wanna check them out it's https://groundwatercraftwork.etsy.com

Appreciate ya!

Doing a whole set of Kentucky cryptid disks. First one is done and ready for coating. Can you figure out which one it is?

Look at our little skull ladies!! They were a little unruly to photo with the chain part but they hang super nice and are really unique looking. They'd look good and spooky for a Halloween party or every day wear if you have the right kinda vibe.

Bat season is in full swing. Bats on walls, bats on clothes, bats on cars, it's the time of the year everyone goes guano crazy for bats. So we've decided to add to it with some bats on ears.

We have 3 different accent colors for the black bat earrings and they all convey the bat season vibe perfectly. Also, we could probably do custom bats if you want a specific color we don't have on the site, just shoot us a message.

Bat's are roosting here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/products/macrame-bat-earrings

Appreciate ya'll! 🦇

Macramé snake earrings! We also upgraded the ear wires so they hang really nice now. This is the brown/red variant. We have two other colors we made so I'll be slithering up some spam posts with all the colors. (Already posted them once but I really didn't like those pictures)

Trying out a neat angular skull design, yay or nay?

Just wanted to do a quick post of all the ones that sold before I got a chance to show them off! I've remade the Rengoku one like 3 times so you may see it again lmao.

19/09/2023

We've just finished up this spooky chic bat wall hanging and they're open for orders! They're 11.5" x 15" so they make really good accent hangings for the rest of your Halloween décor.

Here's a list of colors we have:

String: 🖤Black, 🌚Grey

Beads: 🧠Pink, ❤Red, 💛Yellow, 💜Purple, 💚Green, 💙Blue

Since these are custom order we're not doing a listing on the website, all you have to do is just send us a message with the color string and eye beads you want and we'll get started! The turn around is about 2 days and will go in order of first to last. They're 25$ each and free shipping or pick-up if you're local.

Appreciate ya'll for checking it out! Thanks!

Since we're slithering into the spooky season we figured it's time to snake in a few new styles of earrings!

These little macramé snake earrings turned out awesome! (The pictures not so much, I was experimenting with the background and I think I'm gonna reshoot them, but you can still see them pretty good.) These are the three colors we have right now but if you have a specific color you'd like, shoot us a message and we'll see if we can do it.

You can find these and our other new earrings on our website: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/new-arrivals

If you have any questions just send us a message or leave a comment, we'd love to answer them. Appreciate ya!

GroundwaterCraftwork - Etsy 11/09/2023

Long time no post! So we've been doing and experiment for the last month or so trying out different options for how to sell. We didn't want to announce anything until we were confident it was a good move. The very last one that I drug my feet on was trying out Etsy because I'm not a huge fan.

Boy was I wrong. I might not agree with their business practices on some things but our engravings specifically have done really well on there (the macramé gets buried in all the drop shipping people buying off Temu and Wish then reselling it as "handmade").

So, what we've decided to do is to put most of the engraving and high ticket priced items on Etsy. Also, I've done away with the phone grips and am only doing badge reels currently. You can still custom order the phone grips though, just shoot me a message.

The rest is going to be put onto our website. Also, all custom orders that aren't direct messaged through Etsy will go through the website, unless you feel more comfortable using Etsy. It'll be more expensive through Etsy though.

This brings me to our last point. Prices have went up for everything that was moved to Etsy. This is due to the increase in fees and because our work has improved significantly since we started.

Sorry for the long post! If you have any questions about anything just leave a comment or send a message and we'll get back to ya asap!

Etsy link for anyone who's interested: https://groundwatercraftwork.etsy.com

Stay tuned for showcase posts of all our new work! (It's spooky season, get ready!)

Here's our flower pot hangers we made for Mother's Day! We were only able to get this set out the door in time but luckily they're useful year round!

These aren't up on the website but if you're local and can pick up or don't mind paying shipping on a bigger item just shoot us a message and we'll work it out! They're also made to order so they'll take a few days each to make.

🦋 The medium one with one butterfly are 30" and 15$.

🦋 The large one with two butterflies are 36" and 20$.

Flower pots aren't included, they're just to show how it hangs. 😁

Last Attack on Titan post I swear. 🤣

This is the Military Police crest that was engraved using the same technique as the previous posts.

It turned out awesome, plus, who doesn't think a unicorn with a sword for a horn is sick?

Out of all the division logos in Attack on Titan I think the garrison is probably my favorite. But, I'm partial to roses, just not partial to engraving those cracks without scratching the ink.

I used the same technique I used in the survey corps logo and engraved everything only going two directions so the design shows up better in the light. You can see it a little bit in the two comparison images.

You can find this and our other badge reels on our website! https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/phone-grips-or-badge-reels

This one actually just sold last night but I want to show it off anyway because the Attack on Titan engravings are the best example of the new engraving technique.

I mentioned it in a previous post but while engraving if I keep all the lines going into the same direction, when the light hits from that direction the micro scratches in the metal will light up all at the same time and give a glowing effect. So I've been changing the direction of the engraving on different aspects to have one part light up and the other become dull depending on how the light hits.

It works wayyyy better than it should. The two pictures of the badge reel show it off the best, in the first picture the light is coming from the top, in the second its coming from the side, lighting up the different parts of the crest.

While the Survey Corps. emblem has already sold, I still have the garrison and military police emblems available. You can check them out here if you're interested! https://groundwatercraftworks.com/products/attack-on-titan-inspired-phone-grip-or-badge-reel

Continuing the old school anime trend here's a Death Note apple I engraved. I wanted to have the background be chaotic but with some order and the apple really stand out so I did a grid cross hatching and it turned out spot on!

This one and all our other badge reel/phone grips are up on our website, you should check 'em out! Guaranteed to match any uniform (unless it doesn't match red, then it probably wont match) https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/phone-grips-or-badge-reels

Here's an engraving we did of the State Alchemist emblem from Full Metal Alchemist. I also did all the engraving on this one with a needle going the same direction, which doesn't sound that bad but this was way harder than I expected. Had to break out the magnifying glass to do it. (Still not as hard as the Attack on Titan one's I did, wait till you see those. I still have nightmares)

You can check out all our badge reel/phone grips on our website here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/phone-grips-or-badge-reels

It's 20$ whichever you pick and free shipping. It's probably too late for a super out of the box mother's day gift but could be a "this is dope and I want it" day gift!

We haven't made any space stuff in a minute so here's our cute little Space Walk macramé stack bracelet!

This one was defiantly one of the most fun to make because we picked a different bead to represent each planet in the solar system. (The Jupiter one is my favorite.)

Each individual bracelet is adjustable to get a good fit. No more droopy bracelets that aren't quite snug enough. Plus if you don't want to wear all 4 you can mix and match each time since they all match each other.

You can check this and all our other bracelets out here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/bracelets

I did an engraving of a little soot sprite from Spirited Away!

Not a whole lot to say about this one except LOOK HOW STINKING CUTE HE IS! Also, The background engraving and the eyeballs are engraved in opposing directions so when one lights up from catching the light the other will dull. You can't tell in the pictures too much but it's a really nice effect in person.

You can check out this Susuwatari and all our other badge reels/phone grips on our website. https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/phone-grips-or-badge-reels

Here's the other thick-ish choker we made! The cross pendant we used has this really pretty copper color to it so we wanted to carry that through the choker with the same colored beads. I really like the new thicker options, they're a bit more bold than our other ones.

You can check this and all our other still available chokers out here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/chokers

They all have free shipping too! Except for one.

Appreciate it!

With todays weather it feels like spring has finally sprung! Which means the bees are out! (and the wasps.... and the giant dive bombing wood bees)

So we figured it was the perfect time for our 3rd iteration of the macramé bee stack bracelet! This one is slightly different than the last two but still passes the bee vibe check.

You can find this stack and all our others here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/bracelets

Or if you have an idea for a new themed stack bracelet, hit us up in the comments. We always love new ideas!

Not sure how many old school anime fans we have on here but I finally got around to making Ichigo's hollow mask from !

I recently decided that I wasn't putting in enough painstakingly small detail into my work so I've upgraded to engraving everything in one direction! So every needle sized engraving line will all be going the same direction (except when it's not, I actually did another one that has a super cool effect with the engravings going different directions).

Honestly, I think going the same direction improves how clean the overall design is. Somethings can't be helped, like outlines, but others I hope it's an apparent visual difference.

But anyway, if you work somewhere that requires you to wear a name badge and would like to spice it up a bit, you can check out the hollow mask and all our other engravings here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/phone-grips-or-badge-reels

Or share it with a badge clad friend, that'd be dope.

Appreciate ya'll!

New Stuff!!!

Just added around 10 new items on the website, including this new Sickle Moon Choker! The two new chokers we added today are thicker than our previous ones, so they're perfect if you wanted something a little wider than our previous options. They have a similar vibe and thickness to the classic black stretchy chokers you see sometimes but are a WHOLE LOT nicer than those are.

Instead of the normal four image collage we do for restock announcements we'll just get straight into the new stuff from this point forward. That way you can look at all the new stuff on the website instead of a sampling on a post. Plus I hate reusing images (Yuck).

You can check all the new stuff out here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/new-arrivals

We went a bit more modest on this stack bracelet and it turned out awesome. The beads on it are some of my favorite even though they're glass. Which the red beads we use are also glass and I really like those too. Maybe I just really like glass beads. The best part is how deep the color is, you can see an entire range of hues depending on how the light strikes it.

With it being so close to Easter I thought it would be a good time to share this Calvary Cross bracelet I made.

The engraving turned out really well and I'm super happy with it. I also love the leather we used for these new bracelets. It's oil tanned so it doesn't have that iconic leather smell (which I think everyone loves) or any smell really but it is insanely soft and has an almost suede feel on the top grain. The cord is natural fiber and slightly waxed but isn't scratchy at all.

Overall, a really comfortable bracelet, I've wore one I made for myself for over a month, sleeping and everything in it to test durability and it doesn't look much different than the day I put it on, except it fits like a glove now.

If you're interested you can check all our bracelets out here: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/bracelets

Just wanted to show off a custom wall hanging we were commissioned for!

It's a macramé clothes pin photo frame (as illustrated by our little turnup post-it note) where the little diamonds act as anchors for the clothes pins and you can arrange the photos however you like! It comes with ten mini clothes pins and a sun glasses/eye glasses holder (it's the leaf up in the top left).

It turned out stupid awesome so if anyone would like to commission one or any other type of macramé wall hanging (just send us a picture of it if you want a different kind, we should be able to figure it out) send us a message and we'll work it out!

These wont be put up on our website because shipping them is insane so they're local pick-up only.

Appreciate ya!

Ya'll are lucky I ran out of bee puns from yesterday or you'd have to cringe through another three paragraphs. So it'll just be a plain 'ol talking about new stuff post.

Out of the five leather bracelets I've painted so far, this was definitely the most challenging. At a glance it doesn't look like it'd be too difficult but I've probably redrawn that honeycomb pattern 10 times before I got it the way I wanted. The yellow used to be really hard to engrave because it stained the metal but I've upgraded to a tungsten scratcher and that makes short work of it now.

The difficulty paid off however, by making one of my favorite of the bunch, but I'm partial to bees if you haven't noticed. I might as well just rename the site to Beewater Beeworks.

Oh, and all the bracelets are unisex! They look a little chunky but they're only about as wide as a stick of gum and will fit any size wrist unless you have very large hands. You might have trouble slipping it on, but if that's the case just shoot us a message and we'll make one that's sure to fit!

You can find this real leather adjustable bracelet and a few others on our website: https://groundwatercraftworks.com/collections/new-arrivals
