SAA at SJSU
The Student Academy of Audiology at SJSU is a student organization that acts in the interest of audiology students at SJSU.
We aim to provide resources, opportunities, and support to members of the community who are interested in audiology.
A few of our externs and alumni attended the Kaiser Permanente Venture Symposium! 👩🏽⚕️
Over the past two days, they have been mastering hearing aid programming for four different manufacturers on the market. Our SJSU SAA advisor and Supervising Audiologist at Kaiser Redwood City, Dr. Samantha Ramirez, was able to snap a picture with them as well! 🦻🏼💻

The National SAA is inviting you to learn from two exceptional guest speakers who have committed to sharing information on tele-health audiology, an uncommon topic addressed in most programs. Lauren Foley, Au.D. and Chelsea Maag, Au.D. are scheduled to speak via Zoom on March 14 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The National SAA would be thrilled to have SJSU students attend and participate in this event! Looking forward to seeing you! 💻🏡

Last week we had the incredible opportunity to tour the Weingarten Children’s Center (WCC). We learned about the programs and services they provide which help teach children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen, speak and learn.
Thank you again to all the wonderful WCC staff, teachers, parents, caregivers and students for welcoming us into their morning music class and showing us around. We are truly inspired by you all!

Joanne Huang, Au.D, F-AAA is an audiologist and clinical account manager with MED-EL. She resides locally in San Jose, CA and has been in the Bay Area since 2018. She received both her B.S (Hearing & Speech Science with a minor in music) and Au.D from University of Washington. Prior to joining MED-EL, Joanne worked in the hearing aid industry and as a clinical audiologist at a large hospital. She’s excited to share her audiology journey from being a clinical audiologist to now working in the cochlear implant industry space.
