Music for the disenfranchised: "Sounds like a cross between Willie Nelson and Jeffrey Dahmer."
Hey there! Did you miss us? Well, we’re back FREE on Crackle! . . . . .
1 year gone… we miss you Donzo!
A year has gone by since you passed… you’re missed everyday! Donzo!
It’s time to give , a time to receive.
Times are tough for many people.
The stress and emotions are surfacing for many.
As one that has helped many people the last 10 years.
It’s time to give and receive.
As I walk my journey, I don’t seek a mentor/ teacher they seek me.
I am chosen to walk this path to touch and to help guide through your life’s journey.
My extensive years of training is not to get rich, I do all this for human kind. My modalities are from ancient times, from ancestors and many that have built this foundation of being whole again.
No new age work.
Bodywork in the United States has been put with massage and or yoga. This is not a massage
Bodywork is a full-body treatment that uses gentle, non-manipulative touch and words to help clients drop into body awareness, allowing them to access the body's unconscious.
To feel what tension is held in the body which is either numb or tense with emotions.
This is popular in country’s out of the United States.
To receive this Bodywork, it has changed my life.
I want to help guide you to change yours.
Of course I still offer all my many modalities and will continue with the cacao ceremony’s.
With love always
Melissa ❤️

Party for Donzo at Donzo’s, we miss you brother, RIP!
New roots: Black musicians and advocates are forging coalitions outside the system The mostly white country and folk music industries remain frustratingly difficult for Black musicians to enter. During one of Nashville's biggest events, one group envisioned a new pathway in.

I get accused of ignoring female artists. Not fair. (Did anyone else see Sleater-Kinney blow Wilco off the stage at Red Butte this year?) Here's a female musician with whom I am always contending: https://youtu.be/KBZoL8wpZzU. I bought this record at the time, but always found it a difficult listen. That's good; music should provoke a reaction, and PJ Harvey has never stopped doing that. (BTW, 2011's Let England Shake is one of my FAVORITES!) The girl carries the song w/out any accompaniment, and it leaves Leno pretty well speechless. ("Very nice, thanks for coming"? That's the best he could do?!!)

Alva Hucknix after getting kicked out of Defa's Dude Ranch Saloon - no more than 30 minutes after it opened. (For some reason, LaMonte is pleased, but it means they don't get paid for the gig.) As usual, the drummer is nowhere to be found.
Compliments of my friend, Mike Watt: https://youtu.be/S4MW1h5uoY0. If you wanna know about SOCAL "punk rock" - and skateboarding.
Having a bad day? Maybe it's cuz your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock 'n roll. So where do you go? To rock n' roll? Right here, maties The Hucknix
A perfectly crafted pop song dealing w/ terribly tragic subject matter in the most touching, familiar, humorous (?!!) way possible: https://youtu.be/0TfqbuTBqX8. Never get enough Eels in my playlist. (When they played SLC some years ago, E threw out popsicles to the audience. Something to the effect: "There's always room for popsicles." Haha!) (Best YouTube comment: "Hey, so I just made this album. It was made after everyone in my family died within a month of each other."
"Okay, what should we do for the first video?"
"I was thinking we make a clone of myself out of a carrot and give it a robot body." Sure, why not?)

I'm not the biggest fan of the Grateful Dead. But interesting things seem to be happening in their space: https://youtu.be/qJ3Mc-UZvGE. (Showing how little I know, I didn't get that "Billy" was Grateful Dead drummer, Bill Kreutzmann, rather than that young punk, Billy Strings.) If you're gonna jam a song out like this, then,...yeah. Lots of guitars/keys/sax is the way to do it. But you've got to have rock solid rhythm, which they seem to (other than that hiccup at 6:45, which isn't really the drummer's fault).

Hey, is that Chad Smith's dad on drums? https://youtu.be/WN1R0vuOLjA Maybe it's Chad in the year 2035 when Billy Strings is - what? 23 years old? I love how everyone is waiting for him to shred, but he lets the OTHER guitars take a rip. Got to wait for 8:30 if Billy Strings is why you came. (Best YouTube comments: None. Grateful Dead fans have NO sense of humour.)

Okay, so this guy is from Niger, but I have been to Mali, and the music sounds the same - amazing: https://youtu.be/GZvPoE0EH1o. Think Ali Farka Toure, Tinariwen, or Habib Koite, who played Ogden some years ago. (How lucky are we?) If anyone is thinking Hendrix at Woodstock (the white, left-handed Strat), bonus points. Oh, and he's playing Urban Lounge on September 22, 2021! (Best YouTube comments: "There's something about being a guitarist and not being able to predict the next note he's gonna play that makes me grateful beyond words for this." Indeed. "Sound Guy: Sorry, Mdou we don't have a pop filter for the mic. Mdou: No worries, got myself covered." "The more literal sultans of swing." Ha!)

Believe me, having existed in this time and space (LA punk rock), it smelled as bad as it looks: https://youtu.be/YIQR_3TPtJw. But rockabilly was in the air, and it felt really good. It's weird that Sparks are finally having their moment. (Documentary, dramatic release at Cannes.) Sheesh, it only take 47 years: https://youtu.be/93Ze03G88q0. In lieu of comments, the lyrics (only Sparks would find something to rhyme with Yehudi Mehunin):
Lawns grow plush in the hinterlands:
The perfect little setting for the one-night stands
The drapes are drawn and the lights are out
It's the time to put in practice what you've dreamed about
Well, she can show you what you must do
To be more like people better than you
Well, amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she'll let you know
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she tells you so
Girls grow tops to go topless in
While we sit and count the hairs that blossom on our chins
Our voices change at a rapid rate:
I could start a song a tenor and then end as bass
So choose you partners, everyone
If you hesitate - the good ones are gone
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she'll let you know
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she tells you so
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she'll let you know
Dance, laugh, wine, dine and talk and sing -
But those cannot replace what is the real thing
It's a lot like playing the violin
You cannot start off and be Yehudi Menuhin
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she'll let you know
Amateur hour goes on and on
When you turn pro' you know - she tells you so
Proud to say The Hucknix are working w/ the great Stephen Hodges on a song whose working title is: "Tango Mansion." We've been trying to find the essence of tango, but the closest we've got is this: https://youtu.be/c2Tn8w1w2_Y. Now, Stephen played on this record, but there were no drums on the song. Even so, Mr. Waits got closer to the Buenos Aires slum-roots of tango better than any so-called "master." (Best YouTube comment: "I'm 24 and have been listening to Tom since I was 65." Indeed.)
Tango till they're sore -- Tom Waits great song.
Okay, so I didn't want to go; my brother insisted, and on a summer's night in 1983, I saw the T-Heads on their Stop Making Sense Tour at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Top Five Shows Ever! Anyway, I think there was something more desperate, and vital, about their playing in 1980: https://youtu.be/O1KIYV9ZuKM. And yes, that's Adrian Belew, who graced The State Room in SLC a while back. (Wait until the end for his freak-out.) I never understood why DB disliked Tina's bass playing. IMHO it was perfect. (Best YouTube comment: "Tina Weymouth. The most beautiful lady in all of rock and roll. And that bass line! Absolutely brilliant. 👍☀️👍")

How on earth Roger Daltrey keeps a straight face through this: https://youtu.be/4w021jVKjBw. "I'm all for positive discrimination, but If you have actually gone out and got a deaf, dumb, and blind actor, to put it bluntly, he's going to be pretty bad at pinball, isn't he?...And not too hot at acting either...You would have to poke him with a stick, and that's demeaning." And now for something completely different: Comedy! One of the seriously most underrated television shows is Drunk History. Now, I don't care if they're really drinking. (Probably not). But it's hilarious to hear professional comedians (and others) sending up "serious" historical subjects w/ modern spiel. Check out Bob Odenkirk in three of the episodes: https://youtu.be/6lxmkd_uRDg. Hey, starting at 12:20, you get Odenkirk as Richard Nixon and Jack Black as Elvis Presley. (Bonus appearances are Dave Grohl (he must have clones) and Jack Breyer.)

Conventional wisdom has it that on any given night, The Rolling Stones are either the greatest band on earth, or the worst. This (ahem) is them at their best: https://youtu.be/MiswNgUYD4M. "This man," Lou Reed, was a notorious crank. But, somehow/magically, he's transformed into a slobbering, devoted fan by the nearby star-power of David Bowie: https://youtu.be/W4VEXl4vsq4. (Best YouTube comment: "Get you a man that looks at you the way Lou Reed looks at David Bowie." Indeed.) But, hey: What about that Reeves Gabrel on guitar? Makes the song. Oh, and these lines: "Feelin' so good, feelin' so fine, wait 'til tomorrow, but it's just another time."

So this is it, 1973-era Rory Gallagher that turned us into fans: https://youtu.be/Wb7i1_EqPHI. Caused us to buy Deep Purple tickets not to see those dinosaurs, but because Rory was opening. (Deep Purple's set was interrupted by chants of "Rory, Rory" and they stomped off stage for an unscheduled break.) Watch what he does at :35 - sliding up the neck to begin his solo. Everything about him was fluid - one piece. Every solo was a singular performance - never to be repeated. He and that guitar performing like their lives depended on it. He is one of those artists I am always introducing to new people. (Best YouTube comment: "When you think you can play the blues and then you listen to Rory Gallagher.")

So you've heard the song: https://youtu.be/IwOfCgkyEj0. But do you know the story? Al Kooper was invited to the session to LISTEN. But he ended up taking the organ player's place after he was moved to piano. He was NOT an organ player, but he wanted to play on the session. So he made the move when no one was looking, praying the organ was still on since he didn't know how to do it. Well, this was the take that took. It was an accident, and it almost never happened. But listen to it now with this in mind. Everyone in the room playing off of each other. Making the song work right there in the moment. (Once in the control room, Dylan asked for the organ to be turned UP in the mix.) That's MUSIC to me. (Best YouTube comment: "The Rolling Stones should make a song called 'Like a Bob Dylan.'")

Imagine being Robert Plant who was, by then, in a little band called Led Zeppelin, and getting a letter from your mother saying you had been a "naughty boy" but that the accountant job was still open: https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/robert-plant-wont-unleash-his-vault-of-unreleased-music-until-he-dies/ar-AAKlFYd?li=BBnbfcL

When I was in , I saw a guy playing guitar that was strung with three bass and three guitar strings. He would alternate playing bass lines and leads with the drummer.
