Dance to your own drum. How does it beat?

Do you listen to the Rythm of your body or are you trying to run to the Rythm of someone else's.

Do you take time to stop and listen to your own Rythm.

Our circadian rhythms have been disrupted over eons of rushing, of being everything to everyone, when do you take time to listen to you and take time out to be close to nature, close to the sunrise and the sunset and feel the earth beneath your feet?

7 myths about food.

1 Fat makes you fat. In reality healthy fats are vital for body functions.

2 We need fiber …. When fat was removed from our diets, then we needed more fiber to help mobility in your gut., if you are eating a higher fat diet you will find that you will not need fiber.

3 Honey is ok it's not sugar.
Honey is sugar. Honey is ok in small amounts but if you are trying to lose weight then honey is not your friend.

4 Agave syrup is not sugar - it is. Syrup is the direct giveaway here. It's a syrup made up of fructose.

5. Exercise is the only way to lose weight.
Running on the treadmill for hours at a time or hanging out with the cross trainer will not make you lose weight if you are not eating well.

6.We need fruit juice
Fruit juice is full of fructose. Fructose is stored as fat in the liver and on your body. Don't drink fruit juice - eat the real fruit.

7. Low fat milk is best. In actual fat full fat dairy is best for us all as it helps with our hormone production, it keeps us full longer and it also keeps our skin and tissue healthy and supple. Please do not get caught up in the low-fat story. It has caused us more damage than good over the years.

6 years ago, I was almost pre diabetic. My fasting Blood Glucose was 5.6 - that was petering on the edge if not falling off the edge of a cliff. I also had blood pressure issues and a muffin top that had just developed overnight it seemed. I was also getting close to 60.

What did I do?

I began to eat better.
I cut out anything sugary - that was hard - but it worked.
I stopped having pasta rice, white flour, grains of any sort.

The thing is.... I did think I was already eating healthy, but I wasn't. As soon as I cut those things out of my food intake, my body began to change.

My skin improved,
My hair got thicker.
My fasting Bg went down to 4.6 - it has been incredible to see what my body can do when I'm feeding it well.

Don't get me wrong I still do have the occasional hot chip, and I can tell when I do. My body becomes slow, tired, and aching. I get lethargic and don't want to do much. My mood changes and I begin to feel OLD .

When I'm eating better, I'm full of energy and my mood changes to more positive thoughts, it's incredible.

Yesterday I had the most amazing day with a fantastic group of women honing in on my reformer skills Pilates League :) Feeling a bit sad my course has finished for now. Lots of learning, lots of networking and heaps of encouragement.

What is the definition of healthy eating, and how does it differ from what we think real food is?

Real food includes protein and healthy fats. Minimal carbs and finding food in its natural state. Enjoying balance, variety, moderation and food that is nutrient dense.

Nutrient dense food means food that is recognized by your body. Nothing with a bar code and everything that is found in its natural state.
If you eat this way you will feel much clearer mentally, stronger in your body, and better able to enjoy your life.

When I started on this journey I was tired, I was sick and I felt terrible.

Eating whole foods is the only way to escape the mayhem of the modern world and the food that is marketed as real.

Vegetable oils

How Are Industrial Seed Oils Made?
The general process used to create industrial seed oils is anything but natural. The oil that is extracted from soybeans, corn, cottonseed, safflower seeds, and rapeseeds must be refined, bleached, and deodorized before they are suitable for human consumption.

First, seeds are gathered from the soy, corn, cotton, safflower, and rapeseed plants.
Next, the seeds are heated to extremely high temperatures; this causes the unsaturated fatty acids in the seeds to oxidize, creating byproducts that are harmful to human and animal health.
The seeds are then processed with a petroleum-based solvent, such as hexane, to maximize the amount of oil extracted from them.
Next, industrial seed oil manufacturers use chemicals to deodorize the oils, which have a very off-putting smell once extracted. The deodorization process produces trans fats, which are well known to be quite harmful to human health.
Finally, more chemicals are added to improve the color of the industrial seed oils.
