आज पूरा हिमाचल प्रदेश अपने प्रथम मुख्यमंत्री डा. वाईएस परमार को याद कर रहा है। डा. परमार ऐसी शख्‍सीयत थे, जिन्होंने प्रदेश का इतिहास ही नहीं भूगोल भी बदल कर रख दिया था। डा. परमार न होते तो हिमाचल, हिमाचल न होता।

चन्हालग ने तुम्हें परमार दिया, परमार ने दिया हिमाचल, अब तुम बताओ कि तुमने चन्हालग को क्या दिया’। यह सवाल इसलिए उठ रहा है, क्योंकि हिमाचल निर्माता की जन्म चन्हालग को वास्तव में कुछ नहीं मिला। यह क्षेत्र सरकार की अनदेखी का अनोखा उदहारण है।

हर वर्ष 4 अगस्त डॉ. परमार जयंती पर जिला सिरमौर सहित प्रदेश में जगह-जगह सरकारी आयोजन होते हैं। राजनेता उनके कसीदे पढ़ते है, मगर उन पर अमल नहीं होता। प्रत्येक वर्ष चार अगस्त बीतने के बाद डॉ.परमार व उनका व्यक्तिव मात्र इतिहास बन कर रह जाता है।

Yashwant Singh Parmar: An Indian politician and a leader of the Indian National Congress. He was the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh state. He was born at Chanhalag village near Basahan in a Rajput family in Sirmour.

Party: Indian National Congress
Books: Polyandry in the Himalayas
Education: University of Lucknow ( later received his PhD from Lucknow University in 1944).
