Facebook has banned T Raja Singh, a BJP leader at the core of allegations that the social media giant did not apply hate speech rules on members of the ruling BJP. The politician was banned for violating Facebook's policy on content promoting hate and violence, said a spokesperson.
"We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating our policy prohibiting those that promote or engage in violence and hate from having a presence on our platform," a Facebook spokesperson said in an emailed statement, adding that the process for evaluating potential violators "is extensive and it is what led us to Facebook's decision to remove his account".

Facebook's action against the BJP MLA from Telangana comes as it faces growing political pressure in India over its handling of extremist content.

The politician has been listed under Facebook's "dangerous individuals and organisations policy" and will not be allowed to maintain a presence on the platform going forward, it is learnt. The BJP MLA, as part of the process, will not be allowed on Facebook or its photo and video-sharing platform Instagram. The company will also remove Pages, Groups and accounts set up to represent him. However, it will continue to allow wider discussion of him, including praise and support.

This is the latest assessment of China’s expanding military might, ranging from long-range missiles and nuclear submarines to integrated air defence, space and electronic warfare capabilities, by the Pentagon in its detailed report presented to the US Congress on Tuesday.

India needs to take serious note of the Pentagon report in the backdrop of the expanding Chinese naval footprint in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), which has been further consolidated after Beijing established its first overseas base at Djibouti on the Horn of Africa in August 2017, while also enjoying unfettered access to the Karachi and Gwadar ports in Pakistan.

An average working professional in India is saving Rs 5,520 per month and 1.47 hours of travel time everyday while working from home, according to a survey by leading co-working space provider Awfis.

About 74% of the respondents are willing to work remotely, which could be home or a cafe near home as it leads to significant cost and time saving.

And 40% of the respondents spend less than an hour commuting.

“The time saved translates to time worth 44 additional working days in a year,” said Amit Ramani, founder and CEO, Awfis.

Nearly 44 additional working days in a year means that for a company with 100 employees, 18 FTE days (full time equivalent) are added without any additional cost.

Amazon drivers are hanging phones from trees outside Chicago Amazon delivery stations and Whole Foods stores so that they will have first dibs on accepting new orders, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The outlet viewed footage of drivers syncing their phones up to the devices that are suspended in trees and then parking nearby to wait. Amazon's system chooses drivers based on who is closest to the pickup location — meaning drivers with access to phones even slightly closer to the stores and delivery stations have a leg up on accepting orders before competing drivers.

It's one of the latest examples of how competition has grown among workers in the gig economy, which has been hit hard by a downturn in business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, commonly known as the Kailash-Mansarovar site is revered by four religions and is linked to culture and spiritual scriptures in India. While the Hindus consider the site as the abode of Shiva and his consort Parvati, the Tibetan Buddhists call the mountain Kang Rimpoche, the "Precious One of Glacial Snow," and revere it as the abode of Demchog and his consort, Dorje Phagmo.

The Jains call the mountain Astapada and consider it to be the place where the first of their 24 spiritual masters achieved liberation. The Bons, adherents of the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet, term the mountain Tise and revere it the dwelling place of the sky goddess, Sipaimen.

The placing of the missile at the sacred site, which is also the origin of four transnational rivers - Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej and Karnali, a major tributary of the Ganges, menaces India, which has refused to back down against Chinese aggression on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The total number of Covid-19 recoveries in India has surged to 24,67,758 and exceeds the active cases of the infection by 3.5 times as on date, pushing the
coronavirus recovery rate to over 76 per cent, the
Union health ministry said on Wednesday.

The record high recoveries have ensured that the number of active cases of Covid-19, which is the "actual caseload" of the country, comprises only 21.87 percent of the total cases, it highlighted.

Recovery of 63,173 Covid-19 patients in 24 hours has resulted in 24,67,758 cumulative recoveries, according to the data updated at 8 AM. This has contributed to the rapidly widening chasm between the percentage of recovered cases and percentage of active cases, the ministry said.
