The Basket Project
Our goal is to provide relief and protection from COVID-19 to the most vulnerable segment of society.
We aim to provide baskets containing sanitary essentials such as gloves, sanitary wipes, masks, and hygiene products to Toronto's homeless population.
On Tuesday October 11th, 2022 we had another successful Basket Project drop off!
The Native Women’s Resource of Toronto recieved 110 baskets full of women’s sanitary items. Thanks to generous donations on GoFundMe and in person donations at Common Sort, we were able to donate a combined total of 2,916 pads, along with a considerable supply of tampons, liners, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant.
Thank you to everyone for your support, and the Basket Project will continue to make an impact and reach out to the community in 2023!
This week, all supplies were picked up from Common Sort locations! Our grand total comes to 450 tampons, 612 pads, and 230 liners! There was also 50 toothbrushes and 45 bottles of toothpaste. Thank you so much to everyone who donated!
Update: Our donations have been coming along steadily!! Keep donating whatever you can, donations end in 5 days!
Anything helps no matter how small the donation is!
Today we delivered the 300 women’s baskets! We donated half of the baskets to Nellie's Shelter and the other half to Sistering 24 Hour Drop In.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause, as this would not have been possible without your help.
A few days ago we created 300 baskets which we will be delivering to women’s homeless shelters in the upcoming weeks!
Each basket contains 1 toothbrush, 1 tube of toothpaste, 1 bottle of hand sanitizer, 1 stick of deodorant, 1 pair of socks, 2 disposable face masks, and 4 feminine pads.
Today was our first basket run and we delivered 300 baskets to Covenant House Toronto! It was an amazing experience to help the most vulnerable members of our community during this ongoing pandemic.
Help us reach our new goal of $4,500 in order to fund our second basket run for women’s shelters.

The Basket Project is a non-profit organization founded by three De La Salle Alumni. This summer, current Del students, Sophia Bucciarelli, Yubine Lee, and Sofia Llewellyn are the Managing Interns of The Basket Project, in charge of the Toronto division. The goal of The Basket Project is to help the community by supporting and uplifting members of society that do not have access to basic human necessities during a widespread pandemic.
The Basket Project accepts donations through both funds and supplies. 100% of the donations go towards purchasing personal hygiene products, which are then assembled into individual baskets and delivered to help the homeless and vulnerable segments in Toronto and throughout the GTA.

Hey everyone, it’s been a few weeks since we last updated The Basket Project Family with what we’ve been up to! The transition to online school has been a novel experience to say the least, but we hope everyone’s been getting into the groove of things by now.
Our team is super stoked with how things have been going so far, having established teams in 5 separate cities to provide Canadians with products to help maintain their human dignity. And we’d like to thank you all once again for the enormous amount of love and support we’ve received to be able to do this. You guys are truly selfless.
However, we aren’t done with our work just yet. The leaves are changing colour, and the temperature is dropping fast. Winter is coming, and these next few months are the hardest ones to endure for homeless Canadians. That’s why our team is working on a line of baskets, which will contain: hand warmers, a toque, socks, and a Tims gift card. STAY TUNED FOR WINTER BASKETS!

In light of yesterday, August 18, being National Nonprofit Day, we think it is important to recognize the incredible support we’ve received since our inception almost exactly four months ago. Thank you to everyone who has donated, provided items for our baskets, or even interacted with us on social media. Your steadfast support and overwhelming compassion continues to help us overcome what we could have ever thought possible.
Thank you Debora Van Brenk for taking action and featuring The Basket Project on the website and the Instagram Page!! Visit our website to read the article!
As children, there are certain things that we just have to accept. Where we live, who our parents are, and what our daily lives look like. These genetic/environmental factors shape not only our physical health, but our mental, social, and emotional health as well. For homeless children, these factors often lead to chronic health problems, developmental impairments, learning disabilities, and poor mental health.
That is why this week, our team is shifting our scope to target homeless children under the age of 5. Through our contact at Women’s Habitat, we have discovered the need for: Enfamil A+ baby formula, Similac Sensitive Step 1, baby bottles, diapers, wipes, shampoo, and lotion. Although this donation won’t be enough to neutralize the adverse affects of homelessness on a developing child, it will help reduce their exposure to infections, declining health issues, and nutritional vulnerability. If you have any of these items and are willing to part with them, please consider The Basket Project! As well, please remember that the only way we can keep helping our community is with your support!
We are very excited to announce the launch of our first ever apparel and accessory collection on July 13th! MARK YOUR CALENDARS, this collection will NOT DISAPPOINT!
