If asked the question "how much money do you want to make," most believers would respond with something like "not that much; just enough to pay my bills and be comfortable..."

And they'd probably defend that answer with one of the following notions:

💥 "Money/The love of money is the root of all evil..."
💥 "If I have too much money, I'll be taking away from someone else..."
💥 "Being wealthy will push me away from God and jeopardize my salvation..."

Before we expose the deadly lie that's keeping people (especially Christians) struggling financially, let's change the subject of the question and see if the response is the same...

Q: "How healthy do you want to be?"
A: "Not that healthy, I'm not that greedy; just healthy enough to be comfortable..." 🙄

Q: "How smart do you want your kids to be?"
A: "Not that smart; I want to leave some smarts for someone else's kids...just smart enough to be comfortable..." 🙄

Q: "How long do you want to live?"
A: "Not that long, that would push me away from God. I just wanna live long enough to be comfortable..." 🙄

Would any sane person ever respond this way to any of those questions?

NEVER!

But when it comes to money, we lie.

Why?

Because we were taught that pursuing wealth or having too much money is ungodly...

Never mind the fact that the attributes of being greedy, selfish, ruthless, and materialistic that society attaches to people who are rich are equally possessed (maybe even more so) by those who are poor...

And never mind the silliness of the concept (exposed in the other question examples above) that having more money means it's being taken from someone else...

So being rich and accumulating wealth on its own does not make someone greedy, hurt others, or push them away from God; it merely amplifies who they already are...

The poor person who is self-centered and materialistic will not suddenly become charitable and heavenly-minded if they become wealthy; the money will make them worse... 💯

But the poor person who is kind, selfless, giving, and grateful is someone who is far more trustworthy to receive God's financial blessings because they have allowed Him to transform them to BE the person who can handle those blessings, be a far greater blessing to others, and maintain their salvation intact...

If you are a follower of Christ and an entrepreneur, believing that Jesus was poor creates a subconscious conflict that keeps you from true success.

Christian entrepreneurs and wealth-builders, do you have the courage to pray the prayer of Proverbs 30:7-9?

“Two things I ask of you, Lord;
do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God."

It's easy to ask God to keep us from poverty, but what about the other end of the spectrum?

Note that when Agur (the author of this saying) prays that God not give him riches, he is not praying against receiving wealth in general but more specifically a level of wealth that would divert him from relying on God (which would lead him to say "Who is the Lord?)

So while it is not wrong at all for a Christian to be rich (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Job, Solomon, Joseph of Arimethea, and Nicodemus are just a handful of people in the Bible who were wealthy), it IS wrong for anything, including money, to become an idol that we place in front of God in our hearts.

As you build and scale your wealth, are you merely praying that God prosper you with no limitations? That He open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings, period, even if you do not have the spiritual maturity to receive it?

Let's remember that money is merely a tool to create more time, expand our influence for God's glory, and to build His kingdom. Boldly pray the prayer of Agur, keeping in mind that everything we have belongs to God, and it profits us nothing to gain the world and lose our soul or, as Paul says in 1 Cor 9:27, to transform the lives of others for Christ yet we ourselves become lost.

PSA to Entrepreneurs of Faith:
How you gonna pray AND worry at the same time and expect success? Let that thing go and let God!

One reason why so many new (AND veteran) entrepreneurs are bad at selling and why most say they hate selling is because they're trying to sell what THEY want to sell and hope that people buy.

Whether it's your products, your services, your time, or your ideas, if your business is going to be profitable, you have to get good at selling, like it or not... 😱

But if you want to get good at selling in 2023 and beyond, you need to apply Paul's method of evangelism: 📜

"I have become ALL things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." - 1 Corinthians 9:22-23

What does this mean for your business? Simple.

STOP selling people stuff you think people want and start selling what they need to solve their problems, period. 💯

If someone asks you what do you sell, first redirect and find out what they need.

Let THEM tell you their problem, then offer or create a solution for that problem.

Or, as Paul says, be "ALL THINGS to all people..." (be/provide whatever solution to the problem that your audience has)

So that you can "save some..." (the people who you have the capacity to help)

For "the sake of the gospel..." (the solution/transformation you provide is a part of your gospel ministry, even if you don't mention God or crack open a Bible)

That you may "share in its blessings..." (the more you help people with your paid solutions, the more you are blessed financially, allowing you to help even more people and continue the cycle indefinitely).

For example, so many entrepreneurs are googly-eyed about creating an online course because they think it's a path to passive income (which it is if done correctly!)

So they spend weeks, months, even years creating the "perfect" digital course, but when they finally put it in the marketplace, hardly anyone buys. 😭

Instead, 👉🏽 here's what you do...

1. Ask questions (online, in groups, in person) of your ideal audience about what their biggest challenge is...

2. Listen to their pain and learn how to empathize with those who feel it so that you can accurately paint a picture of that pain to someone else...

3. Use their feedback to create a simple lead magnet (short video, small PDF eBook, audio recording) that describes that pain better than they can and either helps them solve some of that pain or gives them hope that a solution exists...

4. Offer them a digital course or group coaching program that goes into detail on the solution you gave in your lead magnet... (don't create it yet, just show them the benefits of the course/program and give them the opportunity to buy)

5. Once you have gotten sales, fulfill by either creating the course right there and then, or (better yet) teach them your course in a virtual group setting, record it, and sell the recording for the next group as your course.

Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her.

And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon."

Many believers today feel an apprehension to charging people, or charging what they are worth, and somehow feel it is Christ-like to give their time, services, and products away for little to nothing.

Yet we see that Solomon, who God made the wisest man who ever lived, received the equivalent of $250 MILLION in gold alone from the Queen of Sheba for merely answering her questions, and we see in verses 24-25 that the whole world went to Solomon for similar consultations and paid a PREMIUM for the knowledge that GOD GAVE HIM.

If Solomon can do it, why can't you? 🤔

If the parable of the talents (Luke 19) were told today, the foolish man who buried his talent would be the person who plays it "safe" with a 9-to-5 all their lives instead of investing their God-entrusted time and resources to create much more than what they were given.

Building a business is a God idea!

1 Thess 4:11: Mind your own BUSINESS, work with your HANDS.

Why?

So that you gain respect of outsiders (i.e., paying your bills, being financially responsible, having the ability to influence and serve others) and so that you will not be DEPENDENT on anybody (i.e., a job, borrowing from family/friends, taking a loan, etc.)

Your words DIRECTLY affect your success.

In Numbers 13, despite God's promise of victory for Israel in their taking the land of Canaan, 10 spies predicted failure with their words and influenced the masses into preferring to "die in the wilderness" than face seemingly insurmountable challenges.

2 claimed success.

Everyone got EXACTLY what they spoke.

Or, as Christ would say 1400 years later, "according to your faith, so shall it be done to you."

What words are you speaking over yourself and others?

Today, embrace the power of the tongue for good and speak life and not death. (Proverbs 18:21)

Today, commit to no longer sabotaging the success God has called you to have by disarming His power with speech that reveals a lack of faith in Him.
