Cold weather and constant hand washing to kill cold and flu germs can leave your hands dry and itchy.

Try switching your hand soap for a gentle face cleanser (such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser). These cleansers are designed to remove dirt and bacteria from our delicate facial skin but leave it moisturized - they are perfect for helping your hands remain soft and moisturized during the dry winter months.

If your hands are already dry, try applying a thick emollient cream and wear cotton gloves to bed. Vaseline can work in a pinch as well. The gloves allow the products to moisturize overnight and alleviate dryness without creating a mess on your sheets.

Met a woman at the gym today who is competing this week at the women’s bikini CPA weightlifting competition in Calgary.

She looks amazing! I wish her success.

When we talked about her diet and workout schedule I was amazed at her dedication.

It is very true that you cannot exercise away a bad diet. Abs are truly made in the kitchen.

Going to be honest, I have never had the time or inclination to make food ‘fun’.

Food is nutrition. Fuel for our bodies.

Kids will eat food that isn’t made into faces or animals.

And Mom’s don’t have the time to spend making food art on top of everything else she needs to do.

When you are away from home and staying at someone else’s house, controlling your food can be hard without insulting your host.

The answer - bring food to share!

Pick up a fruit tray, or vegetables.

Bring healthy snacks.

Pick up some lean protein kebobs for the grill.

Buy some farm fresh corn on the cob

Avoid the chips, alcohol, and other foods you don’t eat, and share the ones you do.

I don’t make a big deal about it, or insult my hosts, but my health is important enough to me that I ensure I have food I can eat.

And if everyone gets to enjoy a healthy yummy meal - that’s a bonus!
