Exciting News! 🌿 Our team had an amazing day with NRCconducting EDNA testing at Lake Ngatu! 🧬🔬

Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to collect environmental DNA samples to study the biodiversity of this beautiful ecosystem. 🌳🦎🌸

EDNA testing is a technique that allows us to uncover hidden treasures beneath the water's surface and understand the intricate web of life in our natural surroundings. 🌏🔍

Stay tuned for updates on our findings and discoveries from this fascinating expedition! 📈🔎

Waimanoni Marae will be receiving a newly carved waharoa/tomokanga as a gift from Kingitanga in the very near future. This was something promised to our late Uncle Mangu Awarau before his passing.

As part of the preparation for this process, our TAIAO Ngāitakoto team were given the role of escorting whale bone from our stranded tupuna named 🐋TE WAIMOHO🐋 into Tainui rohe for the master carver Renata and his team to utilise in the waharoa/tomokanga.

We accompanied Evon Harris and Missy Edwards who also delivered the kōrero for the carving from the people of Waimanoni. Not only was this journey an honour, as we basked in the manaakitanga of Kingitanga over a period of three days carrying taonga with us, but we were also able to further build upon our exisitng relationship and connectivity with our Tainui whanaunga.

We witnessed how they manage their assets. Observed their nursery and got an insight into how they operate. They allowed us to observe their management structure and also see what possibilities and opportunities exist thirty years post settlement🙏

Ngā mihi e te iwi, e te whānau e te Kingitanga. Thank you for entrusting us with this role and allowing connectivity to play out a process that will weave together a bright future for many🤝
