If there is one thing I’ve learned these past months when I started painting again, is that INSPIRATION is over-rated. If you will just rely on being inspired to paint, you will not finish anything. The truth is, you will not be inspired all the time. All of this is hardwork and lots of caffeine. When you are starting to feel frustrated on a piece, do something where you can freely make mistakes. That way, you can still learn and explore your different art styles. Nothing ever gets done by just looking at it. Grab your brush and just do it.

Getting out of bed is a little harder today because of the weather. But hey, it’s okay to pause everything once in a while and do nothing. We need rest just as we need coffee.

But me, I think I need a whole pitcher of this. ☕️

As my first post on this page, it is only fitting that I share with you a little story.

I have always loved to draw ever since I was a little kid, but this painting is what started “this” all.
My first acrylic painting on a 16x 16 canvas- back in 2016. Used my Daddy’s Boysen latex paints because I cannot afford to buy artist quality acrylics back then. Boysen Paints Philippines baka naman?

I remember that I want this painting to be all flowers, realistic ones. I started with the “lavender rose” on the lower right part. I was all giddy while twirling my paint brush but when I looked at it a little farther, ay bakit gano’n! Hahaha! Sobrang layo sa reference ko. But what the heck, yun lang yung kaya ko. And I continued.

This took days to finish and not what I planned everything to be but it is ME and I haven’t seen anything like it. I am proud of it.

Just like us, we try to be that “perfect lavender rose” that we forgot that being flawed is what makes us unique and being unique is what makes us beautiful. And on that day, I swore that I’m keeping this painting forever. 🖤
