Back into some training!
Well over year has passed since I've done an overnight camp and with my work at Shoalhaven Snake Catchers now looking to be slowing down, it is time to get my fitness back ready for a few adventures.

I am very lucky to have a nice loop track not too far from home that gives me a good work out in varying terrains. Just over 6km and takes me an hour to walk. So this will be my training ground for the next few weeks until I do my first hiking camp that I am keen to share with you all.

Here are a few pictures along the track plus a cheeky Eastern Water Dragon.

It has been a short minute since I've posted, let alone recorded a vid. So here is a Channel Update I recorded to give you an idea on what I'm planning and what I've been up to.

Hope you're all safe and well!

It has been a busy work season for me and I'm looking forward to kicking back a bit. Starting to look for a few camps to do over the cooler months. Have a few spots in mind, including attempting part 2 of the Bungonia trip I had to pull the pin on.

This pic is of a Diamond Python I was called out to relocate. When releasing my slithery friends, I still get to explore some bushland looking for the best spots away from properties.

Well it's been a hot minute since I've uploaded any vids to the Tube. As I've probably mentioned previously, my work at Shoalhaven Snake Catchers is very seasonal, so when it's on, it's on. And this season was my busiest yet.

Well there's a new vid going up tonight at 7:30pm AEST of a short hike my wife and I did the other week into the Budawangs to watch the sun set over the mountains and valleys. It's a nice short one (7 mins) to kick off the "Camping Season" for me.

I hope you guys enjoy it!
Thanks for all the support and encouragement.

Shari and I went for a day hike into the Budawangs recently and while I was brewing a tea, I noticed Shari was sketching Didthul (Pigeon House Mtn)

I think capturing moments like this is just awesome, but also spending the time to sit there and immerse yourself into what is around you as well. Just like Shari is doing here.

Journaling or sketching prompts you to look at your surroundings in much more detail. This is something I'll be wanting to do in the future, all thanks to Shari for suggesting I should.

The vid will be live on YouTube this Friday at 7pm AEST.

Shari and I went for a hike in the Budawangs to watch the sun set.
I'll finally have a new vid to upload after a long and busy snake catching season with Shoalhaven Snake Catchers
Stay tuned people.

New vid of my overnighter back to the is now up and live on

It was an incredible hike with some cracking landscapes with views for days!

There's a link in the comments if you want to have a watch. I'd be keen to hear what you think.

There is something so soothing about sitting below the river oaks and a flowing creek.
Do you find being in nature revitalising for the soul?

Very lucky to have these guys visit our place the other day. A pair (female on the right) of Glossy Black Cockatoos.
These endangered birds feed predominantly on casuarina seeds and with so much devestating bushfore damage in 2019/20, a lot of their feeding trees are all but gone. Out the back of our place, there is a nice stand of Casuarina trees that have the tell tale signs of recent cocky feeding.

Towering 300m above me, these cliffs eroded by water and time watched me as I slipped arse over head in the creek.
Pictures really do not do this place justice and I hope the video I put up on YouTube (link in comments) shows the enormity of this gorge.

22/09/2021

This section of my last video on YouTube was the beginning of a lot of bouldering. These limestone boulders were tiny compared to what I was about to get to. I had to meander over, around and under some that were the size of small buildings.
I didn't record much through that section as doing this solo was tricky enough without having to retrieve camera gear.
There is a link in the comments if you want to check the 7 minute video out.

Walking down into the gorge past some incredible stands of Grass Trees (Xanthorrhoea australis). When they only grow at snail pace of 2-3cm per year, these impressive plants would be over 100 years old. Here before me, and will still be here long after I'm gone.
In my last youtube vid (link in comments) you can see these growing out of the cliff faces. Simply incredible

Grab yourself a cuppa, hit the link in the comments and watch the short flick I put up on YouTube.
Let me know what you think!

If you think about movies where characters travel into the past, they are told to be extra careful as one small action they take could change the future.
You are here now, what if you take that action? You can change the future.

Just like my new YT vid that is now up and live 🤣🤣

These boulders in the slot canyon were massive! Some were the size of houses!
I had to go over, under and around these on the hike.
Some hard yakka but all well worth the experience of this area.

01/09/2021

Walking this slot canyon was just incredible. I've not seen anything quite like it.
The vid of this trip will be up on YouTube on Friday.

I love a good landscape. This one left no secrets to what this hike was to be like.
Approximately 400m decent over the length of 1200m...

30/08/2021

Exploring.
Nothing is quite like it.
Hope everyone is well as they can be.

The next trailer for the upcoming video is a montage of drone footage.
What an incredible spot.
There's a link in the comments for the trailer vid.

Lockdown project. Hobo reel.
Used some grapefruit branch that I cut down from pruning earlier in the season and carved it using my 106.

So the question is, will I be able to catch a fish now...?

Finding peace and the feeling of insignificance when surrounded by 300m high cliffs as you make your way through a slot canyon.
The entire NSW now has Stay at Home orders in place and while we can't adventure too far from home, there are still many things we can do to keep our mind and hands occupied.

Keep a eye on your mental health during times like these and if you need a chat, there are many organisations that are there for just that. Even my DMs are open if you need to chat.
We're all in this together, and together we will come out the other side.

I've decided to trial using YouTube shorts (YouTube's reply to TikTok and Instagram Reels) to post trailers and sneak peeks of the next full video I'll be uploading.

So here is my first one if you'd like to check it out.

Absolutely loving my GRAYL ultralight water filter. So easy to use. So quick to filter.
This is now a permanent part of my kit.

It has a replaceable filter so you don't have to replace the whole unit. Unused filters have a shelf life of 10 years!

What water filter do you use?

Keen to get back out to use this on another adventure.

The amazing sounds of Lyrebirds echoing through the gorge as I made my way downstream.
This landscape is so surreal and along with the many different mimics the Lyrebirds called, just blew me away.

I'm going to play around with YouTube Shorts leading up to the release of this video, so

Just dropped a quick 4 minute video on YouTube last night of snorkeling in Jervis Bay the other day.

Giant Cuttlefish and Port Jackson Sharks really were amazing on the day. Still blown away hey. Also helped a Port Jackson Shsrk that had some fishing tackle dragging behind him.

Big thanks to All Things Jervis Bay , Jervis Bay Through My Eyes and my wife Shari for sharing their footage to use as well.

Feeling for all those who were told another 4 weeks with Stay at Home orders.
I might have to do a couple of trips to put up on the tube so you can live vicariously through me. I'll promise not to wear skinny leg jeans and white skate shoes.

Hopefully you're all able to get out there soon and if you're struggling, remember there are many services you can call to have a chat to. Reach out, don't tap out.

Exploring local waterways can result in finding some pretty amazing spots.

15/07/2021

Setting up camp not far from a flowing water source is by far one of my favorite spots for R&R.
So much easier than lugging water on a trip for sure.

09/07/2021

I've just uploaded a new vid on YouTube of me looking to test my fire starting skills using a flint and steel in the rain.

Shari and I have a new favorite spot to hike to, to watch the sun set over the Ettrema wilderness area and Shoalhaven River.
