Kenosha Women’s City Open Golf Tournament
Saturday, August 27 and 28, 2022
Final Results
Our tournament was a success. The weather held out (rained Sunday morning for about 1/2 hour) and 45 golfers finished the tournament.
Championship Flight:
1st Place Jan Thieme (156)
2nd Place Kristyne Allison (165)
3rd Place RaeEllen Thomson (178)
(note: RaeEllen Thomson tied with Patti Molitor and the tiebreaker was the final 9 hole score; RaeEllen shot 44 and Patti shot 47 so Thomson moves into third place and Molitor moves to 4th).
At the end of the 18 hole round on Saturday, Jan Thieme was in the lead with 81; Kristyne Allison 2nd with 82; and RaeEllen Thomson and Cathy Wamboldt tied with 89's. Even with the rain Sunday morning, these girls were on fire; Thieme shot a round of 36 on the front nine and Patti Molitor was close behind with a 39 (each had birdied two holes). Molitor started the 10th hole with a birdie and anyone who plays "Muni" knows #4 can be a nightmare. Molitor got into some trouble but finished strong to tie for 3rd place. Thieme adding to her round of 36 a low round of 39 and for the 18 holes shot a 75 and couldn’t be caught. Now that's playing some golf.
"A" Flight
1st Place Stacey Chike (176)
2nd Place Mary Link (177)
3rd Place Trish Krieger (182)
Saturday's top golfer at the end of the day's play was Karmen Johnson with an 88 followed by the winner Stacey Chike with an 89. Within close reach were Mary Link and Sue Millhouse with 91. Donna Serzynski's 3 birdies for 36 holes gets and honorable mention for this group of fantastic golfing. Stacey Chike's consistent play of rounds of 89 and 87 crowned her the winner of this division.
"B" Flight
1st Place Brenda Boss (193)
2nd Place Cora Zamstorff (198)
3rd Place Jill Olbrys (202)
Starting the weekend off right was Jill Olbrys in the lead with a 95. And right behind Olbrys was Carmel Tobalisky with 96, and the winner Brenda Boss at 97. Boss's consistent play of 97 and 96 made her the winner. But Cora Zamstorff stormed her way into 2nd place with the lowest nine hole score for the "B" flight of 94 on Sunday's play.
"C" Flight
1st Place Del Scaman (207)
2nd Place Carole Mills (226)
3rd Place Betty Sternbach (240)
Del Scaman led this flight from the very beginning. Scaman led the three competitors on Saturday with a round of 106, Mills at 112 and Sternbach at 127, Scaman came back on Sunday to win this flight with a round of 101. Mills played consistent, with a second day's score of 114 to earn her the second place medal.
