We are seeking an experienced full time Awning Installer to assist other installers and projects we have going on. The job duties of an Installer vary. The main function will be assisting our installations to assure that the installers have all the material on the job site and installing various types and sizes of awnings.

Futureguard Building Products Inc. is in Auburn, ME and is a fast-growing national manufacturer of awnings and sunscreen room systems. We provide products under multiple brand labels, including NuImage Awnings, GuardRite and SummerSpace. Our production facility houses powder coating, CNC milling, sewing, roll-forming, glass cutting and tempering and product assembly along with many other operations. Our sales force operates regionally to better serve the entire USA. We also operate NuImage Custom Solutions which manufactures and installs a wide range of commercial and residential products throughout New England.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Loading, delivering and shipping materials while using a variety of small tools and machines.
• The Installer will set up and take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures.
• Dealing with customers/clients/orders this applicant must be able to operate under pressure, meet deadlines and continually strive to improve processes
• Maintaining truck inventory, returning tools to proper places and removing all material and work debris from truck at the end of each day
• Must have the ability to work independently and efficiently to meet production deadlines
• Attention to detail and memory of instructions is critical to making this installation a quality install
• Work daily with co-workers and customers in a respectful and tactful manner
• Willing to be cross trained and assist in other departments as needed while in between installation jobs
• Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts, especially when dealing with measurements.
• We provide our Logo shirts to our Installers to present a professional appearance when installing customers products. Appearance is they key to showing our customers that we are all about customer facing and quality with both our people and our products.

SKILLS:
• 1-2 years of home improvement or carpentry experience
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
• Strong professional verbal communication skills
• Always observe all safety rules and policies while working with materials and tools.
• English language skills: Ability to read and interpret work orders
• Self-starter; highly motivated and a sense of urgency
• Must be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and team player
• Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Required to pass a successful physical and background investigation with a clean DMV record
• Flexibility with their schedule to meet customers installation needs M-F. Overtime may be required some days depending on the install and you may be working under various weather conditions such as rain, snow, cold and hot temperatures.

Big Mike our veteran application specialist, laying down some zinc primer on a race car frame. We use a zinc based primer before finish coat is applied for that extra durable finish and keeps any corrosion from starting. Powder coating is only as good as the quality assurance steps taken before and during applications. We always use atleast a three step system.. pretreatment (sand blast or chemical etching) zinc primer and polyester finish.

Tuesday afternoon, NuImage was contacted by a local Maine manufacturing business (Starc Systems) asking for assistance in welding carts. The carts are designed for shipping/storage racks for containment wall systems. These walls are going in hospitals to divide existing space into rooms to house COVID-19 patients. They were in need of 20 carts as fast as we could make them. 48 hours later, we have quoted, picked up materials, welded all 20 carts and they are staged for pick up! This is how we work! Become the solution not the problem!

Futureguard operations update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I’m writing today to give you a quick update on the status of operations at Futureguard. The health and safety of Futureguard employees, customers, and partners is of utmost importance. For the time being, Maine has very few Covid 19 cases and the risk remains relatively low. Our factory and offices are spacious enough to practice effective social distancing and thus we are continuing our operations on our normal schedules. The sales team, based around the U.S., will be remaining at their home offices and available during regular business hours until this crisis passes. All unnecessary travel and visits to the Futureguard facility have been suspended until further notice.

Our parent company, Futureguard Building Products Inc., has several branches that extend beyond the world of powder coating. And, the members of every branch are equally committed to excellence in their specialties. Isaac Lane is one such member, and a shining example of the dedication we all strive for. Isaac does proud!

Isaac Lane is one of our treasured mixers stirring up artisan dough at Dough Masters. His strong work ethic has been a staple in the company’s growth over the years. He works with a team measuring, mixing, cutting, and balling thousands of pizza dough balls each day for our customers.

When Isaac isn’t blending up magic at the dough facility, he lives in Danville with his daughter Katalenah. They like to spend time together in the beautiful Maine outdoors. Isaac also spends his time off playing disc golf and getting to as many live music shows as he can.

Our newest upgrade, our new powder coat line, is going to boost our production capabilities in 2020. We have a lot to look forward to this year!

Our new 12,960 square-foot powder coat line has improved Futureguard's production exponentially! We now have the capacity to coat parts 27' in length to accommodate our new SummerSpace screen room product line, as well as our existing awning products. This improved powder coat line configuration has upgraded process equipment with all new track and drive. New 316 stainless tanks allow us to switch to more environmentally-friendly wash, rinse and seal chemicals. All of us at are truly excited about our new capabilities, and are looking forward the year ahead.

Stephen Waterman is one of our powder coat specialists for Futureguard Building Products. Stephen works with a talented team preparing, applying and curing top quality powder coat paint finishes to our awning products. He has been a member of the Futureguard family for a year. Stephen enjoys spending his time off with his family, including his two sons. He is enthusiastic about cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles, and likes working on various mechanical projects. His favorite holiday is the 4th of July... which is also his Birthday!

Rachel Bucknam is intrinsic to our many years of success, and we are thankful for her professionalism, dedication and commitment to PPPI. Thank you, Rachel, for all you do and all that you are.

Rachel Bucknam has been with one of our subsidiaries, Performance Powder & Paint Inc., for over 27 years. She has seen PPPI grow and then be acquired by Futureguard. Rachel currently coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within the company to meet production schedules. In her spare time she likes to “shop til you drop,” play poker, go to our local casino, scratch lottery tickets and be with her grandchildren. She won an XBOX1 from our Holiday Party and is anxious for her grandkids to set it up for her so she can play with them.

Dan Giard started working in our building (101 Merrow Road, Auburn) in 1970. This location housed several shoe companies over the years, including Bonan Shoe Company, Etonic, and Auburn Shoe Company, and Dan was employed with each of them. When Futureguard acquired the building in the early 2000's, owner Don Buteau offered Dan a job when he learned about his longevity here. History was made on December 16, 2002, when Dan became our Maintenance Manager and has held that title ever since.

We are proud to say Dan is a veteran from the U.S. Army, where he served as a medic. He's applied those skills here, keeping our building well cared for and safe for the past 41 years. Dan will be working here part time starting in 2020, so that he can focus more on his hobbies of fishing and hunting.

The Futureguard family is very lucky to have had Dan these many years. Thank you, Danny, for all you have done, and enjoy your semi-retirement going forward. This building and Futureguard will always be your home away from home!
