The Swing for a Cure is a charity Golf Tournament that raises funds to benefit the Diabetes Center at Trinity Regional medical center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
As with any fundraiser, individuals and businesses like to know how their contributions were used. You should know that all proceeds of this event stay in our community and directly impact the care of people with diabetes, both type 1 and type 2. I am, therefore, pleased to let you know how the proceeds that were raised in previous years have been used:
• Sponsoring children from the area to atte
nd Camp Hertko Hollow outside of Boone. Children with type 1 diabetes get a unique opportunity to enjoy time with peers who share some of the same day-to-day challenges. Camp helps reinforce the positive and healthy lifestyle that can be achieved with diabetes.
• Has provided, and will continue to provide educational training for the staff at the TRMC Diabetes Center on the latest technologies, medications, etc.
• On-going pre-diabetes educational classes for the community.
• Type 2 diabetes support group which features physicians and diabetes professionals who speak on a variety of topics pertaining to diabetes.
• The annual diabetes fair, which is an evening for the community to experience professional speakers and multiple vendors, who come equipped with the latest diabetes technology for all to explore.
• Helps fund advertising for the pre-diabetes education classes, the annual diabetes fair, and other events throughout the year so that the community can be aware of the services and events sponsored by the TRMC Diabetes Center.
