Maverick took a shower too

Juliet took a shower today ♥️

Some great information to keep your bird safe during the grueling hot summers in Bangladesh.

Summers can get really rough here in Bangladesh and pet birds have a hard time dealing with the weather. We've written a brief note on summer care which will help you make things better for your children.

Sumner care:

1. You can't keep them under sunlight. Install small table fans and put on curtains in their rooms or balcony.

2. Give them a shower every 2 days at least. If the temperature gets too hot, shower them everyday.

3. Give your birds as much as fresh vegetables or fruits possible. That'll keep them hydrated.

Reduce oily seeds like sunflower, safflower, h**p, etc from their seeds mix. Don't elimate those entirely, just reduce the quantity.

Always keep fresh clean water available in their cages.

4. Feed them these following things once a week during summer.
a. Electromin saline or coconut water
1gm saline in one litre water
b. Aloe Vera
Mix one spoon of fresh aloe vera with 200ml water and keep it in their water bowl for 6hrs.
c. Lemons
Add one spoon of lime juice

5. Signs of overheating:

a. breathing through their mouth or panting
b. holding their wings away from their body,
c. Behaving in a lethargic or stressed manner.

What to do when you see them overheating?
a. Mist them with a misting bottle or give them a shower
b. Feed them coconut water or saline or aloe vera solution
c. Turn on the fan or air conditioner to keep th cool down.

6. Heat strokes

If your birds lying on the bottom of it's cage, unable to move and have symptoms of overheating, they're having a heat stroke. Immediately mist them, feed them saline and keep them under a fan or AC. Content a vet asap too..

7. We would highly discourage breeding birds in summer but if you HAVE to, make a lot big holes in the breeding box and install a fan around their cages.

8. Don't take out your birds before evening. And before taking them out do mist them a bit and feed them water.

DO MAKE SURE WINDOWS ARE CLOSED AND THE FAN IS SWITCHED OFF before taking them out. As a pet owner, it is is your responsibility to make sure everything's safe.

গরমে পাখির যত্ন:

• সীডমিক্স থেকে তৈলাক্ত সীড -যেমন , তিশি, গুজিতিল, সূর্যমুখীর বীজ, কুসুম ফুলের বীজ কমিয়ে দিন।

• বেশি করে তাজা শাক-সবজি এবং ফল দিতে হবে পাখিদের। মৌসুমি সবজি ও ফল গুলো বেশি দেয়ার চেষ্টা করবেন। শাক-সবজি এবং ফল খেলে পাখিরা হাইড্রেটেড থাকবে।

• সব সময় ফ্রেশ পানি খাঁচায় রাখবেন। সপ্তাহে ১-২ দিন পানিতে এ্যালোভেরা মিশিয়ে দিতে পারেন আর একদিন ডাবের পানি অথবা ইলেক্ট্রমিন স্যালাইনI

• পাখিদের প্রত্যেকদিন দুপুরে গোসলের পানি দিতে হবে। যদি গোসল করে তাহলে খুবই ভালো, না করলে ১দিন পর পর স্প্রে করে গোসল করাবেন আর যেদিন গ‍্যাপ যাবে সেদিন হালকা স্প্রে করে দিবেন ।

• পাখিদের ঘরে পর্যাপ্ত আলো বাতাস চলাচল যাতে করে খেয়াল রাখবেন। ফ্যানের ব্যবস্থা করবেন। যদি তাও তাপমাত্রা ম্যানেজ না করা যায় ঘরে ঘন্টায় ১/২ বার মিস্ট অর্থাৎ হালকা স্প্রে করবেন।

ওভারহিটিং এর লক্ষন:

পাখি মুখ হা করে ও দানা মেলে জোরে নিঃশ্বাস নিলে বুঝতে হবে আপনার পাখি ওভারহিটেড হয়ে গেছে। পাখি ওভারহিটেড হলে সাথে সাথে গোসল করাবেন, ইলেক্ট্রমিন স্যালাইন বা ডাবের পানি দিবেন। (ইলেক্ট্রমিন স্যালাইন-১ গ্রাম ১ লিটার পানিতে)

হিট স্ট্রোকের লক্ষণ:

পাখি খাঁচার এক কোনায় দানা আর পা ছেড়ে দিয়ে পরে থাকবে, নড়তে পারবে না আর জোরে জোরে নিশ্বাস নিবে।

হিট স্ট্রোক হলে পাখির পায়ে আর ডানার নিচে স্প্রে করে দিবেন, পাখি কে ইলেক্ট্রমিন স্যালাইন বা ডাবের পানি খাওয়াবেন। ঘণ্টায় ২/৩ বার করে দিবেন ।
