We all have a little y***o inside of us, right? Just waiting to be free & enjoy life! Y***o Yoga foc
It's been awhile. I've become busy and as one who isn't great at multitasking without freaking out it felt like I let my practice go. Though with knowledge, self-study, awareness and inherent goodness I was able to make it through everyday situations in public like having a job.
Coming back is a beautiful thing. Seeing and knowing that the child's mind is curious, I am easing myself back into my self care routine. It sounds easy but no. Again, self doubt creeps in and questions why 'I' need self care, to take time for myself. Why do I deserve it?
Letting go of these unfounded, unkind thoughts, I am here, and now is the only time to be a vessel for love. No one can love me like me. No one can understand me like me. No one can let go of my attachments but me. And then maybe I can let go of the ego, me, I, My and just be the true Buddha self. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Before judging someone's words or actions...
I haven't forgotten yoga. I have been doing a lot of mini meditations and mindful breaks in the day. One of my techniques is chanting mantras; SINGING! Feel so good. Here's today's beautiful mantra by Edo & Jo (my fave yoga album):

I'm in a gang/cult. We gonna hang out on Sunday at 9 o'clock.
We're gonna unblock chakras; steal time for ourselves (๐ฅธ); worship Solarus & then do...nothing else while laying on our back for 10min.

Clearing the soul with the mantra Om mani padme hung
(does anyone care if it's not perfect?)
We can find ourselves in nature. Change happens all around us as we go about busy human days.
Leaves emerge, uncurl, grow, stay for a while, change colour, fall off, decay.
Finding yourself in nature feels like magic. When yiu connect to the essence of being of the earth not just on it.

When anxiety settles in the pit of your stomach and won't let go: breath
When everything seems to bring emotional tension into your belly: breath
When things start to go south and your stomach is heavy with dread: breath
When you reach the point where your thoughts control your body but you don't even know it: ALWAYS breath

As Westerners, we are conditioned to need a proven science base of knowledge which in this case is great! Because the SCIENCE is showing the benefits. Every expert from Neuropsychologist to General Practioners recommend any of these above techniques for anxiety, depression, stress, tension, chronic injury/disease & more. They can only take you so far with their fields and a holistic approach may improve your circumstances.
How do I know? Because I live with anxiety, depression & PTSD daily. I have experienced sexual & verbal abuse, violence and neglect growing up so I know the importance of feeling safe and loved.
Also, I don't believe in charging high prices for something that eases peoples pain.
$10/person per session is it. Or chat with me, I am open to discuss.
As Kit from Pretty Woman would say:
Take care of you,

When the pose calls for balance, concentration, strength & poise. Add in some laughter and you have the emergence of goddess energy. The internal vibrance of being one of love and compassion.

Thank you, Sandra for adding this new word to our vocab.
Vanakkam =greetings. You say vanakkam to anyone you hold in regard, guests, etc. and the gesture that accompanies the greeting is praying hands, i.e. both palms pressed together. (Tamil derelict)
This week in Y***o Yoga we are coming back to mother earth with the vital Earth Element.
Using straps to support a safe practice and stretching for flexibility but most important for JOY. JOY in the BODY, JOY in the MIND & SPIRIT.
Doing the things with more precision and more notice is far more valuable than constant hard work and movement. Invite peace and tranquility to your daily moves. Share that moment with yourself.

Partner yoga poses are a fun and social way of practicing movement. We are social beings, needing mental and physical connections more than we realise or are willing to admit. Physical connection is often shied away from in Western society, especially during this world wide pandemic (which is understandable).
However, do you remember when Princess Di would visit AIDS medical centers and physically connect with all the sufferers? She was practicing human empathy and creating connections that let people know they are valued. Incredibly selfless, loving and inspirational.
Have you ever been angry when someone you love gently touches you, flipping a switch on your anger instantly making it dissipate? I have, for sure. It has a calming effect on the mind and body. It is a relief.
Partner yoga practice enables us to make important connections, transfer and share energies in space and time; build self esteem and understanding of the Self as well as others. It brings about awareness of perspectives in differing approaches, i.e- different body proportions, different ways of approaching a pose and problem solving through communication.
Sharing skin to skin contact has become almost a taboo thing to do in Western society. It's rare for people to seek or initiate platonic touch. Which is sad because it can cause a feeling of loss and loneliness as well as a feeling being non-valued. It's a complex concept to wade through as I also understand why this can happen. As a victim of sexual abuse, it can be very hard to trust people or to have certain contact without flashbacks occurring.
For me, right now the practice is in positive sharing of space, trust and empathy! AND having fun in the trying!
Be well, Stay Cool

We are learning this beautiful phrase to bring us back to the center. When you are overwhelmed, come back to the breath. When you are in fear, come back to the breath.
This phrase will help you become aware of the laws of nature; CHANGE is a constant and NOTHING is permanent. Realising this, we can then begin to practice ACCEPTANCE. - Kerrie
Yogapedia:
Definition - What does Om Mani Padme Hum mean?
Om Mani Padme Hum is a powerful Buddhist mantra that invokes the blessings of the Divine whether the mantra is chanted aloud, recited within, written down or viewed in the written form. Om is believed to be the sound of universal creation, mani means "jewel," padme refers to the sacred lotus flower, and hum means "the spirit of enlightenment." The exact meaning of the mantra cannot be easily conveyed in a few sentences as the mantra is the essence of the entire teachings of Buddha.
Practicing the mantra helps transform the impure body, mind and speech to pure body, mind and speech, which is the state of Buddha.
The mantra can be recited by anyone who treads the path of love and compassion. Spinning a prayer wheel with this mantra inscribed is believed to be as beneficial as chanting the mantra.
While chanting the mantra, the focus should be on its meaning, which can be generally thought of as follows:
Om (or Aum), the cosmic sound, contains three letters - A, U and M - which symbolize the impure body, mind and speech of those who chant the mantra as well as the exalted body of Buddha, his mind and speech.
Mani is a representation of the intention of the practitioner to achieve superior levels of compassion and enlightenment. It is capable of fulfilling one's worldly and inner needs.
Padme symbolizes wisdom. Wisdom leads to realizing one's inner self by aiding in achieving perseverance, focus and perfection.
Hum helps to perfect the practice of wisdom.
The veiw from here.

The break over the holidays has been a great little refresher for me. However, as I began to start classes up again I began to the feel pressure of performing (self-inflicted) and fell behind on properly planning ahead. This in turn worked up my anxiety and the fear set in, that I am not good enough, I don't know enough, I have nothing new to bring to yoga. Ugh. I am a Weirdo!
So, I have reconnected with myself, my true motives for yoga and classes. It all comes back to the Beginners Mind.
Treat every activity, every pose, every situation as if you are a child; as if you are curious to see what is happening; as you are in that moment, here and now. I have used this method for washing the dishes and find myself happy to play in the water, as I watch a dirty dish become clean by my hands. I use my senses to be in that moment, smell (clean lemon or berry), feel (water temperature, bubbles, dish cloth) and sight (chaotic food & dish mess into clean and ordered stacks or lines in the cupboard).
I have started doing this with brushing my teeth, also. Noticing the brush feel on the gums, the water and toothpaste taste and texture.
To my future self: when FEAR sets in again embody the Beginner's Mind.
Classes starting this week; Take 2. TUES 9am on 19th January
