Tech Tip of the Month: services.exe infection

When running an AVG scan, you may come across an infection similar to this:
Trojan horse Dropper.Generic_c.MMI;" c:\Windows\ System32\ services.exe"; "Object is white-lis ted (critical/system file that should not be removed)”
You will find that AVG does not have an access to clean this file, as the file is white-listed to protect the operating system. There are two ways in which you can clear this infection:
1. Use the AVG Rescue CD to clean the file.
2. Run the Microsoft System File Checker. This tool detects system files that are not at the correct version and replaces them, which will remove the infection in these cases.
