The Kristine Thatcher Fund

The Kristine Thatcher Fund was established in 2012 to support actor, director, and playwright Kristine Thatcher in her recovery from ovarian cancer.

The KT Fund is a Michigan Non-profit Organization (but not 501 C3). Thank you for all your support!

Thanks to all of you who have supported Kristine with your good wishes and your contributions. Kristine is at home with her cat, and just about to reach an incredible milestone: 8 years since her cancer diagnosis. And oh--by the way--she had a milestone birthday earlier this week...that one started with a 7.

Sometime recently, this page reached 100 likes, which is great. I will say, however, Kristine's friends number far more than 100. And I'll tell you what she has told me many times about you, her friends: you have literally saved her life.

Happy birthday, sweet 70. And many more.♥️

Let's hear it for "BEATING CANCER'S BUTT SINCE 2012"!!

We're launching our online giving campaign today, the day of first preview of THE SAFE HOUSE at Williamston Theatre!

The quote above from Kristine is a perfect illustration of our friend's spirit, humor, and optimism. The problem is, cancer doesn't fight fair. After seven years, Kristine has had her share of setbacks, but she has no intention of surrendering to this unworthy opponent.

That’s why we are coming to you today. Once again we are asking you to consider making a donation, of any size, to the Kristine Thatcher Fund. One hundred percent will go toward helping Kristine recover.

You can give by card or PayPal at tinyurl.com/give2ktfund, or send a check made out to The KTFund, P.O. Box 4321, East Lansing, MI 48826.

One special request for those who are willing and able: please consider making a recurring donation. You’ll be offered this option when you use this link, tinyurl.com/give2ktfund, with credit/debit card or PayPal.

In this way we hope to build a source of ongoing support—a strong foundation for Kristine’s own “safe house.” One time gift or sustaining—we are so grateful you’ve read this and are considering a donation.

With gratitude,The Kristine Thatcher Fund

Playwright's tavern-owning feisty grandma inspired Williamston Theatre's next production 29/09/2019

Thank you Judy Putnam and the Lansing State Journal for your story about Kristine Thatcher and her new play! And thank you Stober's--an historic Lansing pub formerly owned by Kristine's grandparents--for hosting our event. The spirits of Schneiders past and present were very much in evidence there on Monday.

Folks, don't miss "The Safe House," previewing October 3 at Williamston Theatre and running through November 3.

Playwright's tavern-owning feisty grandma inspired Williamston Theatre's next production Katie Schneider bought what's now Stober's bar in 1935. She's remembered in “The Safe House,” a play by her granddaugher, Kristine Thatcher.

Standing O for City Pulse's Larry Cosentino for this thoroughly researched, well written and fully engaging article about a certain actor, director and playwright we know. Thank you Larry and City Pulse!

'Let’s try it again' When Kristine Thatcher was 14 years old, she sat in a creaky seat in a stuffy barn in Grand Ledge and lost herself in John Peakes’ dying eyes.

Shall we play a game?

Role? Show? Bonus: co-stars; what's happening in the scene?

A message from Kristine to all who visit here. ♥️

Hi Everyone!

Before I get into my latest health report, I want to thank you all profusely. I don't know where I'd be without all of your loving wishes and financial contributions. I suspect cancer would have gotten the best of me, if it weren't for you. In fact, I don't just suspect, I know it would have. Your spirits have helped me continue the battle, to the point where I have been beating cancer's butt for seven years now. Your contributions have kept me from going down the drain financially, so that I can pay my bills and literally put food on my table. So, thank you, thank you, thank you! My love to you all!

So now, where to begin? I am still doing chemotherapy. But the great thing is I've gone from 8 hour sessions, to 1 hour sessions, and even better, I've recently been told it is working! You can't do much better than that! There is
only one problem right now that takes the forefront.

Over the past 3 months, I've developed significant neuropathy. If you don't know what that is, it's a delightful little gift that is a side-effect of my cancer. Your legs and feet go numb essentially. I was falling down every few days. and I couldn't get myself up. Yep, you've got it - Help! I've fallen and I can't get up! I even have one of those gizmos now. Old age is a wonderful thing.

I have been assigned to home care, with a nurse, a physical therapist, and an occupational therapist all coming to my house. The fact is they are helping a lot. They are making me stronger with specially designed exercise. They have
given me hope. I've only fallen once in the past couple of weeks, so I am getting stronger. But I still can't go up or down stairways, so I can't leave the house by myself, or do my laundry, or drive. Those are the next few things I will
accomplish.

But just when things seem darkest, you get wonderful news! For example, Williamston Theatre, the finest theater in Michigan, decided to do my latest play (which premiered in Chicago, and was voted one of the ten best plays of
the year) and not only is that terrific in and of itself, but the play is all about my feisty German grandmother, so my family and friends can finally come and see it!

That's my news. I've come to trust that things even themselves out, but either way, life is an awesome adventure. Also, I've come to believe that my friends
like you are wonderful and irreplaceable!

Kristine
