A Brief History of Musical Notation from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance - Medievalists.net There was a time in the history of Western music when notation was in its infancy, and the system with which we are currently familiar looked and functioned very differently than it does now.
I knew there was one more photo somewhere! Fourth attempt at C12th hair. Like the first attempt, but with two strands instead of one.
Third attempt at C12th hair.
Second attempt at C12th hair. This did stay in better than yesterday's pattern.
First attempt at C12th hair. I particularly like the effect of the stripey ribbon. The white ribbon didn't work as well, perhaps because it was a thinner fabric? Wish I had thicker hair to make big fat plaits!

So Canterbury Faire starts in a week ... Do I want to go? -- I've booked and paid (camping only, no meals or any other extras) but now a large number of the people I'd like to see aren't going to be there.
Do I go anyway, have a really chilled out time, enjoy the lesser numbers and use this as an opportunity to get back into camping at the event without too many commitments?
Do I use the time to do stuff around home and prep for school? -- Hmm, that sounds really boring, but the other option might be in the too hard basket, considering that CF is in a week and I haven't done any prep because I've been vacillating about going.
I could day trip, or just go for a few days, but I'm not a big fan of driving. If I can get away with not going in to Amberley to buy food mid week, I would.
Thoughts?
And now: something completely different!

Gloria d'Amore | Katherine's Renaissance Dance Pages A couple begin facing, not holding hands. Note that this doesn't have the same "chorus" at the end of each repetition of the music (though it has recurring elements, and a clear structure).

Contentezza d'Amore (Il Ballarino) This is a balletto and sciolta for two people, one man and one lady. It commences with the couple at the foot of the hall, facing each other, and holding both hands.
