UP4 - From Detroit to SoHo: The Rise of Konstance Patton

In the run-up to our 5th Anniversary exhibition, we’re publishing some stories from the UP archives. From Issue 4: Politics – During the height of the chaotic year, social distancing became our lives. Stores boarded up for fear of rioting and looting, giving the city an apocalyptic look; decked in raw plywood sheets in place of windows. However, artists saw these plain plywood sheets as fresh canvases that could be used to beautify the city and share their messages through art. Nuart Aberdeen welcomes an international cast of highly acclaimed street artists to Aberdeen, including include Case Maclaim, Cbloxx, HERA, KMG, Mahn Kloix, Millo, Molly Hankinson, Niels “Shoe” Meulman, and Wasted Rita for this year’s theme, ‘Living Heritage.’ Using the city walls and streets as their canvas, artists produce breathtaking works which range from super-sized murals to smaller hidden gems.
