Take a look inside the newly updated Mighty Mountain Movers journal
It’s been a beautifully hectic month over here, so far, and I apologize for not starting daily prayer posts this week! I will be more on the ball for next week. We have been sitting down to dig into the journal together, again, just haven’t been diligent to post about it.
Today is , where we pray about global issues, and Israel is heavy on my heart. Not in an anxious way, because I trust that the Lord is at work through all of these global events, but in a way where we are feeling very compelled to pray.
One of the things that kept us busy was that I took the last two weekends to help a good friend with her book booth at the Georgia National Fair. While there, I met Monica, an Air Force veteran who turned to woodworking as a therapeutic hobby. She makes such gorgeous pens, including the one I am holding, here. I had the privilege of fellowshipping with her, as she is a believer, and many of the pens she makes for Crimson Pen Co. reflect her heart for the Lord, her love for our country, and her heart for Israel. She gifted me this beautiful pen inscribed in Hebrew with “Yeshua Hamashiach,” Jesus the Messiah, and it is made of olive wood from Bethlehem, which amazes me.
The Bible instructs us to pray for two cities: the one we live in (Jeremiah 29:7), and Jerusalem. Jerusalem is literally named the city of peace. Sometimes we think of peace as this soft, wimpy thing. But as you can see in the graphic I included here, the pictogram for shalom in Hebrew means strong teeth to destroy the authority of/attached to chaos. God’s peace is not wimpy. It rests on us, yes, but it also goes before us and makes a way. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, of Israel. We’re also praying that God will use this conflict to bring people on all sides of this into His family. That Jesus, Himself, would be their peace, destroying the dividing all of hostility (just as He does between gentile and Jewish believers, as Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:14)

Our family is going to start going through the journal together, again, this next Sunday. There is so much going on in the world at large, and in our own little world; I'm looking forward to spending this time together, seeking the Lord in the middle of it all.
We'll be posting daily prayer prompts, here, and you can join us. Just comment below each day's prayer prompt that you've prayed (you can share a family selfie, if you like). Just like in the journal, our prayer themes will be:
Salvation Sunday
Missions Monday
Our Town Tuesday
Wellbeing Wednesday
Thoughtful Thursday (global issues)
Family Friday
Satisfied Saturday

This is such a good reminder!
"Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger."
Psalm 8:2 ESV
It's not just that God delights in the praise of His littlest children -- though He absolutely does -- it's that He silences the enemy through their praise. What a powerful concept! Praying and praising children are world-changing children.

As I was easing into this Monday over a mug of coffee, this morning, my 10 year old daughter was reading me riddles and jokes. She got to one that said, “My feet are warm, my head is cold. You cannot move me, I’m just too old. What am I?” I correctly guessed mountain, and then thought to myself with a chuckle that the mountain was misinformed.
I can’t think of a situation we’ll encounter where my family will need to move a physical mountain from here to there, but I can think of so many times we’ve needed to remember that nothing is impossible with God. Creating this prayer journal to share with my children has been a phenomenal experience for me, because I’ve been able to see the fruit of persistent prayer in their lives, and in the lives of those we are lifting up. And, more unexpectedly (naively so, as most parents can attest), the fruit it bore in our lives as parents, as we walked through this with them, and as God reshaped our own views of Him, of the heart of the Father toward us.
I’m beyond excited to share this resource with as many others as I can. It has truly been transformative for my little tribe, and I believe it is a much needed resource in today’s world. It’s not too late to join the launch team! If you’d like to get a first look at the newly revised journal, and help spread the word to more families, start here: https://forms.gle/WuSrknDy9pB5UkdU7
Praying for those who don’t yet know the Lord is such a pivotal part of how we express our faith. Peter said the Lord seems slow in returning because He is willing that none should perish (2 Peter 3). If all of our daily efforts should flow out of a place of intimacy with the Lord, how much more so our efforts to invite others into the family, right? And as we pray for others, we identify with them, we empathize with them, and our compassion grows. As we learn to see others the way Jesus saw them from the cross…that changes us, too. And it should!
I’m so excited to be moving closer to the launch of Mighty Mountain Movers: A Family Prayer Journal with Sarah Geringer! If you’d like to help us get this incredible journal out there, I’d love to have you on my team! You can join, here: https://forms.gle/WuSrknDy9pB5UkdU7
When I was first building the journal, I wanted a kite for the image of Satisfied Saturday - the day we are lifting up needs of provision (material, financial, etc). I liked the image of a kite resting on the breeze, the same way we are to rest in who God is. One of the names He calls Himself by in Scripture is Jehovah Jireh - The Lord who Provides. He doesn't call Himself, "the Lord who begrudgingly throws you a few breadcrumbs," because He actually delights in meeting our needs! This perspective shift is so important. Prayer isn't always answered as we expect or as we think it should be, but if we know the heart of God, we can trust as we wait, we can rest on the breeze as it lifts us up.

Do you have a favorite verse to pray?
This is a favorite verse of mine, and in Mighty Mountain Movers: A Family Prayer Journal I use it (with some others) for the confession portion of our ACTS prayers. I also love to start the day with this verse in mind. It's so helpful for framing my thoughts, actions, and words.
Have you heard the news? I'm launching a newly revised and updated version of Mighty Mountain Movers! You will LOVE the new workbook graphics! Check the comments for the link to join my launch team!

Pre-coffee conversations...
Joshua: But He’s not LITERALLY a potter, and we’re not really clay
Me: right, it’s a metaph-
Me: 🤯
Me: Actually, what did God make us out of?
Joshua: Earth?
Me: Thats right. He formed us out of dirt, then breathed His breath of life into us…bam. Humans. So I guess we really are clay, and He really is a potter

In 2 Corinthians 10, Paul says that our weapons are NOT carnal/human/earthly, BUT mighty. That contrast is so loud. All the striving and struggling that we resort to so easily, that's WEAK. The MIGHTY weapon is the one we access through prayer. When He gives the strategy, when He gives the grace and the peace, when He surrounds us with His favor as a shield, and we prayerfully wield the sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God), that's true power. It doesn't mean we don't act, it means we don't act without first getting the strategy by battling it out in prayer, first.
My girls had all the fun in children’s church, today, at Lasting Impact Church! I love this simple and practical guide in loving our communities well through prayer! I saw it when Judaea excitedly ran up to me after the service, and got so excited, because this reminder is right on time, since we’ve been working hard getting ready to launch the updated version of Mighty Mountain Movers, newly edited and with beautifully updated graphics.
And by the way, Mrs. Brandy, we’re so grateful for the time you invest in our kiddos 🥰😍 I hope you know how much they love learning from you!
