I wish had learned how to do percent increases this way years ago.
Here's a cool way using your fingers to multiply larger numbers... an NO it's NOT the 9 trick (if you need that one, DM me and I'll make that for ya).
I used this tool to help my students convert customary units for volume. Check it out!
Have you ever tried to teach subtraction with regrouping? Hack #3 addresses the confusion behind regrouping vs. borrowing. This is probably one of the most challenging concepts to teach students. Maybe that is why back in the day, OLD SCHOOL TEACHERS just said BORROW!!! They may have been on to something, because the world still produced Einstein, Bill Gates, Hedy Lamar, and Katherine Johnson.
