DMX was a child of God. He wrestled with his demons...as we all do. His afflictions were on front street because of his celebrity status. He constantly cried out to God through his music and prayers. He fought the good fight...he kept the faith...and he finished his course. Jesus never condemned him...only loved him. God never gave up on him. His pain and suffering are over now and he is resting according to grace...not works. ~~ G. Gregg Murray

Beautifully written by Leslé Honore

No matter how gentle the Black
How light the skin
How gorgeous the face
How talented the soul
How pure the intentions
They will not protect us
No matter how innocent the life
How secure the birthright
Titles will be stripped
And babies tossed to wolves
Because of a fear of Black skin
They will let a woman drown
In their lies
They will let the darkness
Swallow her
See her reach out for help
And not only turn their backs
But cr3ush her fingers beneath their feet
With hopes she will plummet off the cliff
The why is obvious
The why is consistent
The why is always the same
Black
They want her suffering
Because Blackness
Because she was breathing
While Black
Because her Light
Outshines the white
With her Blackness
They will turn their backs
On their own
Stop taking calls from their
Sons
Because of Blackness
And what else should we expect
From the birth place
Of white supremacy
The birth place of slavery
The birth place of the patriarchy
The soul of colonialism
And
What else should we expect
From a lineage of resilience
Of beauty
Of strength
Of everlasting hope
Her bounce back
Her reboot
Her survival
Catch this
Catch this brilliance
Catch this happy
Catch this radiance
That not even 1200 years of hate
Can kill
Catch this liberation
Catch this revolution
This World Woman
This Global Majority
Catch all of this
Unbreakable
Blackness
She doesn’t need your titles
She has always been a Queen

When we become desperate, we cry out in desperation, which is an entirely different kind of prayer. Desperate cries for help create divine deliverance and will push you through those quitting places. God heard the cries of His people and moved on their behalf. He will do this in your circumstances as well. The next time you find yourself in a desperate and unbearable situation, consider the following:

Relax: “Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you” (Psalm 116:7).

Cast: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6–7).

Rest: “My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him” (Psalm 62:5). “The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble” (Proverbs 19:23 niv).

Those three words, relax, cast and rest, describe productive actions you can take when life goes sideways. Relax—God is working things out for your good in spite of what you see happening around you. Cast—Like casting a fishing line far from the bank, God wants you to cast your troubles far from the bank of your soul. Rest—Contented resting, untouched by trouble, is available for you in the midst of the unbearable times.

You are not alone.

Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water next to Jesus. But after a while, the storm grew stronger and, overwhelmed by a situation he couldn’t control, Peter began to sink.

Immediately, Jesus saves Peter. But then He asks one question:

“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When storms in life happen, it’s easy to act like Peter. We can become so fixated on the problems around us that we lose sight of our Savior standing beside us.

But even when hope seems lost, Jesus is near. His constant presence is our confident assurance that during life’s storms, God is, and always will be, in control.

Whatever you’re going through right now, be encouraged: Christ is your anchor, He is able to do the impossible, and He will not let you drown. Hold onto hope by fixing your eyes on Him.
