Hi, I'm Courtney and an advocate for everything Maths! Maths is one of the most interesting and useful subjects but can scare a lot of people off with it's perceived complexity and steep learning curve - and that's where I come in. For a lot of students, Maths seems to be notorious for being 'too hard'. This is NOT the case! Maths requires skills in persistence and problem solving, and anyone can do Maths if they have the confidence to try!

In my own school life, Maths was really interesting but seemed so daunting, and was a subject I really had to push through to get results! Even though I achieved highly at GCSE, I found the progression to A Level much more challenging. I was lucky enough to have the enthusiasm of a great teacher to push me to carry on and achieve my best. It was because of them I achieved great success in my A levels, I was then inspired to challenge myself further in teaching myself an extra A level in Further Mathematics from home in one year rather than two, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at a top university, and I'm studying towards my PhD. Anybody can do Maths. And with the right motivation, anyone can achieve brilliantly in Maths.

I think the importance of having a motivation to excel at such a young age is essential for later life, and in such a competitive climate, can elevate you above everyone else. I have been a private tutor since the age of 18, helping numerous students gain confidence in the subject and achieving great results from all ages up to and including A-Level. I've run gifted and talented Maths master classes, been a Maths Ambassador for undergraduate students, taught at the University's Maths Outreach programme, worked as a private tutor in a private college and for undergraduate students retaking exams.

I believe in a collaborative way of teaching, my lessons should act separately to school lessons, providing a fresh new insight into learning Maths. Practice makes perfect really does get results, so my lessons usually focus on exam-style questions and exam techniques but in a more relaxed approach for the opportunity to ask a lot more questions, understand the reasoning behind methods, and building abilities to easily progress in students' academic careers.

All of my students have had great results, and most importantly, their confidence to continue learning the subject at higher levels has been amazing!
