❌ Choice… here’s some things you might not have choice about👇
So many things impact your choices. And so many times those things take away our full choice.
Learning how to fully understand your choices or lack of choices takes awareness, deconstruction and an open mind. It’s really not an easy task.
Here’s a few things you may not realize you have less choice than you think you do…
🔵How you respond in relationships
🔴Your religion
⚪️ Where you live
🔵 Your trauma responses
🔴 Your sexuality
⚪️ How you parent
🔵 Your inner critic
🔴 Your body size and shape
Some of these can change, some are harder than others.
Many people I work with make choices and then look back and say… wow I didn’t even realize I could make a different choice. Or what if I gave myself permission to do that? Or not do that?
Remember if 👆is you… even if you didn’t have as much choice as you thought you did, you probably still made the best valid choice with the information you had at the time. 🔥

Purple Sky Counseling: Important Updates & Openings Now - https://mailchi.mp/a6f88fb5e256/purple-sky-counseling-important-updates-openings-now
Mother’s Day. It’s full of so many things for so many people. For each of us, it is OK to do what you need to do to honor that.
There’s lots of ways to take care of yourself this weekend. Here’s a few I recommend. You have permission to do any of them that work for you 💜
Turn off social media.
Tell people not to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day.
Tell people what you need.
Let yourself grieve and cry.
Don’t celebrate at all.
Get outside.
Connect to nature.
Find alone time.
Eat your favorite foods.
Talk to someone.
Feel your feelings.
Create a new tradition.
Not talk with your family.
Write. 💜💜💜 Cassidy
Just for fun 😂
What else does it look like? 👇
I hear people dismiss or ask people to prove their trauma all the time. I get so made. We don’t need to judge trauma and dismiss trauma based on other people’ s trauma.
When you hear that, please remember that is someone that truly doesn’t understand it. or doesn’t want to...
Your experience is valid, even if someone else doesn’t understand trauma.
Seriously, 🛑 Stop saying these!
What did I miss? 👇
*** Remember -Trauma is anything that happens to you, that overwhelmed your capacity in that moment without supportive healing afterwards, and even sometimes with that.
It’s a wound. It needs healing. 💜

Sending love and support to all my therapist friends 💜💜💜
Even the emoji movie was all about emotions 😆
Parents apologizing. Kids having emotions. Movies about periods. Emotions and more emotions. Accepting ourselves and others regardless.
What movie/show has hit home to you lately???
You have to actually be angry. 👇
No, it doesn’t mean you have to be mean or yell at someone. It doesn’t mean you have to tell your parents why you are mass at them, it doesn’t mean you have to hurt someone.
Feeling anger is for you and done within your body. 😡
If you find yourself saying…
- it’s not ok to be angry
- I just want to not be angry
- I’m fine
- if I’m angry I have to …..
- or judging your anger in any way
You might not be feeling your anger.
Try this -
Notice then Anger
1️⃣ Name it as anger
2️⃣Just sit with it for 30 sec
3️⃣Then ask anger what it needs
Often anger needs movement, voice, being outside, pushing or lifting, throwing etc.
4️⃣Then do what the anger needs
If it needs voice. You don’t have to tell the person you are angry at, you can… but you could also Jindal it, talk to friend, scream it, sing angry music, etc.
Start small, try 5 min or 15 min at first.
If you’ve never felt it before, it might feel really big. But it’s just a feeling and it will pass. 💜💜💜
Invisible Scars impact your whole life and all your relationships.
Trauma is so much more than the things that happened to you.
It’s about the things you needed and may not have gotten throughout your life.
Safeness, love, belonging, worth, value… Is what you learn at your core.
And usually before you turn 4.
Follow to know more.
Happy Halloween!!!
What your system does to survive that is incredible. 💪🦄
AND you can work with those things to heal, to shift how you live your life now, to have more choice.
5 things to try and say to yourself.
This is horrible and I am doing all that I can do right now.
I am safe enough in this moment.
I can find security.
I feel _____ and I can notice what I need right now.
I am in the process of finding ways to help.
***This is not therapy. This is generalized information for many of us experiencing vicarious trauma. If you are experiencing a more intense trauma response these tools may or may not work for you. Please use the tools that work for you and seek professional support.
💜💜💜 Please continue to take care of yourself and those around you.
They are not the same thing!
I’ve found when I talk about this many humans get defensive and have a hard time having the conversation. (Which is something to pay attention to and explore).
Religious Trauma and Faith Transitions are NOT the same thing.
I mean, your kicking ass!!!
I know it doesn’t always feel like that… but there is a reason what’s going on for you is going on for you 💜
Something to think about…
This is not a hard and fast rule, but I find lack of awareness or ability to look at harm is often a sign of someone being stuck in their trauma or privilege.
And yes… privilege can come with trauma as well…
#
I kicked ass! I talked about religious trauma with 512+ EMDR therapists!
I was the sold out show of the weekend!!!
And they heard me!

Your beliefs will get in the way everytime!
💜🌻
Does it work???
💯 Anger is ok 🔥
Many of us were taught anger was not ok to have. We have spent decades trying to be fine or nice, NOT angry.
Many of us are labeled as angry when we aren’t. Which often leads to us numbing or hiding or masking our anger in some way.
Anger is an emotion. There is a reason it is showing up.
*** Anger and behavior are different things. Your emotion of anger does not make it ok to hurt or harm someone else.
