Meet Dr. Marie-Roseline Belizaire, an epidemiologist, and public health specialist from Haiti who has responded to disease outbreaks including Yellow Fever, Dengue, Ebola and now COVID-19 all over Africa. She joined the World Health Organisation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to fight the Ebola Virus Disease epidemic there and is now working amid violence and insecurity in the Central African Republic to contain COVID-19.
“What keeps me awake at night is thinking about how we would respond if a new disease emerges in the war zones of CAR at the same time as we are dealing with this pandemic. Also, keeping my team safe from both the virus and the violence, while we try to reach the most vulnerable.... And all of those who die in ambulances because we reach them too late,” she says.

Meet Neera Sharma, head of the School Meal Programme for WFP in Nepal. Her current work with WFP helps serve meals to 173,000 children living in food insecure districts throughout Nepal. With lockdowns and school closures due to COVID-19, many children in Nepal are not getting meals they would normally be receiving in school.

“Countless children in Nepal are going to bed with empty stomachs. To see that smile on a child’s face and knowing they will not go to bed hungry is why I do this work,” she says.

Meet Kalkidan Gizaw, a 33-year-old nurse from Ethiopia. For most of her career Kalkidan has worked in the vaccination department, on infant and maternal health. She teaches pregnant women to follow up their monthly checkups, to deliver their baby in the health center with skilled attendants, to track their health and the health of their baby, and to regularly bring their baby in for immunization.

With COVID-19, one of their greatest initial challenges was countering rumors that going to the health center would expose people to the virus. Mothers and pregnant women were avoiding the health center, even for delivery.

“I grew up in this community. They helped me to learn and excel in my profession. Serving them and teaching them about how to prevent COVID-19 makes me happy," she says.

Yesterday, IAA and Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA) Lawyers Alliance launched the world's first privacy handbook for advertising and marketing. Entitled "Privacy Law: A Global Perspective on Data Protection Relating to Advertising & Marketing", the over 700 page guide offers a holistic view of how privacy frameworks and data protection regulations impact advertising and marketing ecosystem in more then 70 countries.
