The D1 Life Foundation is excited to spotlight each of the 2024 D1 Life Scholarship Recipients over the next few weeks. 🩵

Meet Ellie Rodning, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Ellie will be attending University of Mississippi in the fall of 2024. Her goal is to work in healthcare. Ellie hopes to use the skills she has developed on several mission trips to Honduras with the organization Humanity and Hope United. She has a love for serving others. These missions have helped Ellie increasingly become more fluent in Spanish. While attending Auburn High School, Ellie was a member of Auburn High School's Women's Varsity Soccer team, part of the 7A State Championship runner-up women's varsity soccer team, AHS' first female football kicker, AHS' track and field team, Women's Basketball team, Club Soccer, Key Club, created "Sunshine Kids" for community members to serve at local nursing homes, compete in triathlons and competitive dance to name just a few.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"What living a D1 life means to me is to always make others feel loved and accepted for who they are, and to always appreciate everything Jesus has given us in this life. Also, to better yourself each and everyday. "

Meet Tyler McKinnell, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Tyler will be attending Troy University in the fall of 2024. He has committed to throw the javelin for Troy University's Track Team. While attending Auburn High School, Tyler was a member of the AHS Football Team and Special Teams Captain, a member of the AHS Track Team, attended the State Track Meet for AHS several years and a member of The National Honor Society. Tyler volunteered at the Auburn Food Bank assisting employees and providing food and worked with the Auburn Red Lobster Christmas Service providing meals to firefighters and policemen. He also worked in lawn care and maintenance in the city of Auburn. Tyler plans to use collaborative communication skills and his ability to work well with others to excel in his next season.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"This scholarship means so much more than financial aid. This scholarship allows me to represent a young man and family that are beyond a blessing to me and everyone they come into contact with. Dylan was a light to everyone he knew and even the people he didn’t know. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to receive this scholarship and represent a truly amazing young man and friend."

Meet Catherine Herring, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Cate will be attending Auburn University in the fall of 2024. Cate was honored and humbled to be named the Distinguished Young Woman of Lee County for 2024. She won several awards on the categories of scholarship, interview, self expression and talent. While attending Auburn High School, Cate was President of the National Technical Honor Society, Vice- President of Auburn High School Student Council, Vice- President of AHS Junior Civitan and an Auburn High School Ambassador. Cate was also a member of AHS' Mu Alpha Theta, HOSA, Key Club, Biology Club and Lee County Young Leaders to name just a few. Cate's extra curricular activities included being a team member of The Variation Dance Studio Competition Team and The Variations Dance Studio Company. She also serves as an Auburn Community Church Team Leader and on the Youth Leadership Team.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"That the D1 Foundation sees something in me that honors the legacy of Dylan Pegues is the most magnificent compliment I have ever received. As I step onto Auburn University's campus, I will proudly represent the principles and characteristics that represent the D1 Foundation."

Meet Rebecca Woodham, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Rebecca will be attending Highlands College in the fall of 2024. She plans to extend her education while experiencing hands-on ministry training.
While attending Auburn High School, Rebecca was a member of the AHS National Art Society Member, Spanish Club, Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America (FCCLA), Graphic Design Social Media Manager, Career Technical Education Student of the Semester, Team Captain of an Elite Competition Team, and active in leading middle school small groups at Church of Highlands to name just a few. Rebecca's goal is to study Visual Arts and Family Ministry to cultivate her love for creativity, along with families and children.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"Being chosen as a recipient of this generous scholarship is truly a blessing, and I am incredibly grateful! I pray that through this opportunity I am able to glorify God, and shed light on the amazing things the D1 Life Foundation is doing in our community. "

Meet Ean Nation, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Ean will be attending Tuskegee University in the fall of 2024. Ean's goals are to use the adaptability he learned from his time at Auburn High School to adjust to college life. He has a commitment to fostering leadership among underrepresented communities and contribute meaningfully to campus community and beyond.
While attending Auburn High School, Ean was a member of the Auburn High School Varsity Football team, Senior Team Captain and Junior Offensive Captain, AHS Basketball Team, AHS Baseball Team and AHS Track and Field to name just a few. Ean was awarded the AHS Airman Award his Junior and Senior years, Player of the Week on many occasions, a AHS Football record holder for catches and yards in a single season and a member of the 7A First Team All- State. He volunteered with AHS Varsity Football Kids Camp and The Betty and LaGayle Cancer Foundation.

Meet Emerson Hornsby, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Emerson will be attending University of Alabama in the fall of 2024. Her plans are to study in the medical field and become a CRNA. While attending Auburn High School, Emerson was a member of Auburn High's Key Club, HOSA Club, a Health Science CTE Program Intern, became a certified CNA and EKG technician, a National English Honor Society member, an Auburn Community Church childcare volunteer and a Young Life participant to name just a few. Emerson feels through her life experiences she has a deeper purpose and wants to make an impact this side of heaven.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
" I am beyond thankful to be chosen as one of the recipients for the D1 Foundation. This scholarship is aiding in my ability to further my education, which I know I know will carry Dylan’s ambition, values, and legacy in to. Praise Jesus today, tomorrow, and forever!"

Meet Olivia Parish, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Olivia will be attending Auburn University in the fall of 2024. Her plans are to study and become a Child Life Specialist. While attending Auburn High School, Olivia was a member of the Auburn High School Choral Company, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Club, an Auburn High School HOSA member, President of Student Council and Youth Committee Representative at Auburn First Baptist Church to name just a few. Olivia's goal is to be an advocate on behalf of others through encouragement and support.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"As I start school at Auburn University, I am honored to continue Dylan's legacy by living intentionally and loving like Jesus. I have the opportunity to touch other people's lives, on and off campus, and reflect the vision of "Living a D1 Life."

Meet Trevien Fletcher, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Trevien will be attending University of Alabama in the fall of 2024. His plans are to study and become a Mechanical Engineer. While attending Auburn High School, Trevien was the co-captain of the Auburn High Varsity Basketball Team, a member of the Afro-Cultural Educational Club, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Alpha Elites Mentoring Program and participated in 252 Youth Leadership Program and the Dream Team at Church of Highlands to name just a few. Tre's goal is to continue to be a strong and visionary leader in his upcoming studies.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"The D1 Scholarship is awarded to deserving students with the ability to afford higher education and I am proud to be one of the ten chosen. Receiving this scholarship also made my mother proud which is very important to me."

Meet Jaden Echols, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Jaden will be attending Auburn University in the fall of 2024. His plans are to study psychology and become a sports psychologist. While attending Auburn High School, Jaden was a member of the AHS Hi-Def Club, Auburn High Basketball team, Auburn High School Show Choir, an Auburn High School Ambassador, The Afro-Cultural Educational Club and the media specialist for the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church to name just a few. Jaden's goal is to be a mental health advocate and help athletes and coaches on the collegiate or professional level.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"This scholarship means a lot to me, because of who it’s from. Being able to win the scholarship that’s in the name of someone as kind and hardworking as Dylan is very commendable, and I will always be thankful to the Pegues family and the D1 foundation for everything they do."

Meet Nour Kamar, one of the D1 Life Scholarship Recipients. Nour will be attending Auburn University in the fall of 2024. Her plans are to study medicine and enter the medical field. While attending Auburn High School, Nour served in organizations such as Habitat For Humanity, The Exceptional Foundation and The Miracle League. She was an Auburn High School Ambassador and a member of the German Club and serves as Vice President, an Auburn High School HOSA member, National Math and English Honor Society and a Junior Civitan Member to name just a few. Nour strives to live a life dedicated to helping and serving others with compassion and empathy.

What does the D1 Life Scholarship mean to you?
"Receiving a scholarship in Dylan's honor is something that will forever fill me with gratitude as it not only will support my educational journey, but also allow me to become a part of the powerful legacy he has left behind. It serves as a humbling reminder of the impact Dylan made and motivates me to carry his spirit and passion forward as I continue to pursue my education and goals."

The D1 Life Foundation was humbled to be a small part of these awe-inspiring Auburn High School young people's journey. Hard work, perseverance and dedication are just a few words to describe each student and their accomplishments.

Our foundation celebrates each student's achievements and we diligently pray for the path before them as they make the transition into the next step. It was an honor and a blessing to meet each family. So much love and support have been poured into their young lives. Each one has their own unique and beautiful story. We look forward to cheering you on in every aspect. Giving God all the glory!
