Your diet plays a large role in your skin health as well as your overall health and wellness.

Your body needs certain macronutrients and micronutrients in order to properly function and take care of things like your skin, hair, and nails. When your body isn't getting all the nutrients that it needs, it won't function as optimally, and non vital functions won't be as important. This is why eating mostly whole foods like fruits, veggies, meats, etc. and less of the processed foods is so important, because these whole foods contains the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) that our body needs.

Our skin is the largest organ in the body, so when something if off like your nutrition, you will see it in your skin.

Taking care of your skin is so much more than just the products you are using. Our skin is the largest organ in the body and when something is off within the body, you will likely see it in your skin.

Some examples of things that can effect your skin:
Gut Health
Nutrition
Supplements
Detox pathways
Medication
Stress levels
Water intake
Daily habits
Underlying health conditions
Using the wrong products
Hair care products
Makeup products
Environmental factors - weather, pollution, dust, etc.
Sleep

Here are some ways your skin could react:
Dry & Itchy
Red
Acne/breakouts
Small bumps
Burning sensation when apply products
Irritation
Dull skin
Oily skin
Dark circles under eyes
Enlarged pores

Both of these lists could go on. This is why taking a holistic approach to skin care is so important. If you are only concerned with the products being used and the treatments being done, you are missing out on so many things that could be impacting not only your life but your skin.

Did anything from this list surprise you? Stay tuned for a deeper drive on these items to learn more about how they impact your skin and changes you can make to improve your skin and health.

Being able to relax is such an important part of your health as this is when your body will work on repairing itself.

A facial is more than just a treatment to help with acne, to brighten the skin, or help with aging. A facial is also a form a self care and gives you time to relax with no distractions.

Even if you don’t fall asleep, the parasympathetic system is likely still activated as you lay there and relax.

Haven’t had a facial in a while? Take this as a sign to find some time in your schedule for yourself and book your next facial.

Your skin doesn’t define you. You are more than your skin.

When your skin becomes a part of your self worth or how you define yourself, it can make it harder to improve your skin.

When you are dealing with something like acne I know it can feel like it is never going to go away and that it is something that you will always deal with. When you have these thoughts and get stuck in this mindset, it can actually make those feelings a reality, leaving you struggling with your acne and making it harder to get clear.

The mindset shift with this, can make a huge impact on not only your skin but your overall health. You need to have a positive outlook and believe that you can have clear, healthy, and glowing skin. When you start to believe it and have less stress about it being held in the body, the change will begin to happen.

You have to be in a relaxed state for your body to start healing and clearing your skin. When you are always worried, stressing, or constantly thinking about your skin you will never be in the relaxed state for the healing to happen. This is why it is so important to change your mindset.

Want to challenge yourself? Try writing down or telling yourself 2-3 things you love about your skin or yourself on a daily basis, and see what this simple shift can do for you.

Let’s talk about red light therapy.

Red light therapy is a combination of visible red light (what you can see) and infrared light (which can’t be seen) to help the skin and your overall health.

For the skin:
* increase collagen production
* Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
* Reduce inflammation
* Reduce acne
* Reduce redness
* Improve texture of skin

For overall wellness:
* reduce inflammation
* Stimulate hair growth
* Improve sleep quality
* Help with injury recovery
* Improve healing
* Help with scars
* Reduce stretch marks

Since I started incorporating red light I have noticed my sleep has improved, I have noticed my hair growing quicker, reduced redness in my skin, and it has helped with my acne.

If you haven’t tried red light before, I highly recommend giving it a try.

A Little About Me

Hey there and welcome to my page! I hope to be able to inspire and help you fall in love with your journey.

I am a twenty something year old dog mom spending part of the year in Vermont and part of the year in Florida. I grew up in Vermont so one of the perks of having a Fiance in the golf industry is no more winters! I loved growing up in Vermont, but I have always loved the ocean and hated the cold and snow winters. Splitting the year is the best of both worlds until we find somewhere to settle down.

I am someone who has always been there to help others but always struggled to be consistent for myself. I would always get motivated to start a new program, but life would get busy and I would put myself and my health on the back burner. The only time I would stay consistent is when I had an end goal like a vacation or an event, but as soon as that happened I would give up again. I know I am not the only one out there that has struggled with this! It took a while to find the right fitness and nutrition program that was simple to follow but also enjoyed, but when I finally found it I went all in. It also takes the realization that it isn't a diet, or the desire to look/feel good for that one item that mattered. It truly is a life style change and doing the little things that add up to make big changes in your life.

I am now committed to my health and fitness journey and help others commit to theirs as well!
