I can't believe it's already been two weeks since we've been back in the states. I'm still getting used to so many things. Wearing a ring, being a husband, and sharing life together. Although it's a big adjustment, I can't think of a better partner through it all. Love you !

Find a Court Interpreter | Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts 14/05/2021

I just received notice that Tennessee's only Korean translator has passed away from health complications. This is a devastating blow to the Korean community and shows an extremely serious issue for the API community as a whole. There is such a lack of court interpreters serving minorities in Tennessee. https://www.tncourts.gov/programs/court-interpreters/find-court-interpreter. You can search by each language and for most minority communities, there is maybe one interpreter for the whole state if that. For example, there are simply no interpreters for Urdu, Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Kurdish, Gujarati, or Burmese speakers at all. This means that AAPI folks facing legal issues, court cases, etc. are having to rely on untrained, informal help if at all.

If anyone you know are interested in becoming a court interpreter, please let me know and I would be happy to encourage and guide them through the process. Additionally, if you have never thought about it, it is an extremely helpful and rewarding profession with guaranteed income (court appointed work is paid by the state at around $40-50/hour). Please consider becoming an interpreter and spread the word about this please.

Find a Court Interpreter | Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts This page contains a list of contact information for interpreters who have met the standards to be designated as certified or registered interpreters...
