As we change and grow there will be so many losses, often experienced as something unexpected and unwanted. We might lose a job, a limb, our identity, our home, our faith… Grief is the natural, necessary, normal response to loss.

We at ISKCON Relief would like to honour two of Srila Prabhupada’s prasadam soldiers who left their bodies in their food for life service during the Ukraine Crisis.
This is a very challenging time for the ISKCON Devotee world. Honouring a devotee after they pass can be a therapeutic process for families, friends and of the devotees that knew them well on a spiritual platform. Not only can honoring the memory help us continue forward in life, but it ensures the emotional connection that remains even after their death. So we at ISKCON Relief have teamed up with HG Rambhoru devi dasi - a well respected Vaishnav. Rambhoru devi dasi was initiated in 1974 in Cologne, Germany, by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. In 2008, Rambhoru devi dasi became a Board Certified Chaplain.
Rambhoru Devī dasi serves the ISKCON Vaishnava community by training qualified, second-initiated devotees as lay ministers, or chaplains, equipping them with the tools to work in settings such as hospitals, hospices, prisons, assisted living homes, orphanages, and within ISKCON communities, as compassionate caregivers and servants.
Please pass on this invitation to whoever you think might find it useful in finding the peace after this sudden news.

Acyuatma das: Dear devotees, please accept my obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Please pray for the two devotees who died yesterday, July 16, in Alchevsk
while serving Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
Yesterday, the Ukrainian army attacked the Donbass with HIMARS missiles
supplied by the US government.
Four missiles were aimed directly at our FFL building.
Two devotees (Krishna-tattva das and Madana-Gopal das) died.
Every day they worked hard and fed thousands of people who were left without
homes and food.
Yesterday, after distributing prasadam, they returned to their hometown of
Alchevsk and were killed.
Krishna-Tattva das was the leader and president of ISKCON in Alchevsk. He
participated in many preaching programs in Russia.
Those who have been to the Sadhu-sanga festival in Russia know him, he
served as an translator.
May Srila Prabhupada shower His causeless mercy on these devotees and allow
them to continue their devotional service!
Your servant, Acyuatma das

Two FFL Devotees Killed in Donbass Ukraine

On July 16, two Food For Life devotees in Alchevsk (Donbass) — Krsna-tattva Prabhu and Madana-gopal Prabhu — were killed in a missile strike that hit the Food For Life kitchen. They had just returned from prasadam distribution to the FFL base when a missile attack destroyed the building, and they were buried under the rubble. Another devotee, Arjuna Prabhu was injured and has been taken to hospital.

The Donbass FFL program provided over 1000 hot prasadam meals weekly to civilians in the war-affected areas in Donbass since 2014 and increased its efforts throughout the ongoing Russia-Ukraine military conflict. They carry out charity programs in orphanages, and rehabilitation centers for people with disabilities, organize hot meals at sports and social events and help elderly and disabled people in their homes. They spread the culture of being merciful and unite everyone who wants to bring kindness and love to people.

As of today, the Food for Life in Lugansk mission has not only lost its leader, but also the building from which the mission was operating. Both devotees who passed away were also pujaris in the local temple. Krishna Tattva Prabhu was born in 1982. He joined ISKCON in 1998 and received his first initiation from Bhakti Tirtha Swami. Madan Gopal Prabhu was also born in 1982 and joined ISKCON in 2004, he was a disciple of Bhakti Vijnana Maharaja.

An outing was arranged for the refugee devotees visiting a polish farm.
Outings help to keep the normality, maintain mental health and create cohesive Sadhu Sanga. This helps to maintain a healthy Krishna Conscious mindset.

Poland Well-being Day Out
Why we take mental wellbeing seriously as physical health at ISKCON Relief ?
Physical and mental health are equal partners in the maintenance of wellbeing.
The WHO describes health as:

A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”

Mental well-being is top priority for our devotees coming out of a war zone especially the children. It takes time to adjust.

So we at ISKCON Relief organise social outings , gatherings and opportunities for our refugee devotees to verbalise their inner thoughts and feelings so they can get on the road to quick recovery and normalities of life.

Thank you to our Pandava Sena UK youth group for welcoming the young Ukrainian refugee devotees to their community in United Kingdom.

Trauma , if not treated early can result in dysfunctional behaviour patterns. After any tragedy one’s life can be restored with the right company and guided direction in life. There is no better association for the youth than our very own Pandava Sena youth group for this very purpose.
