Corduroy fabric! Are you a fan? I definitely am. My favourite trousers, made from our organic cotton cord in Mulberry, are coming out of the wardrobe, as it's getting a bit chilly. It's been my most worn pair of trousers since I made them 2 years ago and the fabric looks and feels even better now. We still have it in stock!

And here's another Autumn/Winter fabric pick - Lambswool Fine Check.
It's a very high quality cloth woven from black, grey and yellow yarns creating a small check pattern. It is deadstock fabric in limited quantity, so if you like it, be quick!

So, here we are in the autumn season again! Colder weather means more layers: woolen blazer over a linen top, corduroy trousers, a dry oilskin parka to keep the wind and drizzle away...
We hope we can help with your fabric and pattern needs!

Another patchwork bag in the making!

Tencel Lyocell Grain Jacquard in Charcoal Black.
This is a rather weighty fabric with peachy soft touch and matte, chalky appearance.
It has a subtle and delicate grainy texture, a lovely, fluid drape and it is naturally breathable. The fibres are antistatic, so don’t cling to the body or other fibres. It does not crease easily.
The fabric would be perfect for dresses, tops, skirts, duster coats, loose trousers, etc.

18/08/2023

Lambswool flannel! Very high quality and beautifully soft. Perfect for making suits, blazers, tops, dresses, etc. We love it!

14/08/2023

We love our linen/wool fabric, but there are only a few meters left of each colour. It was a one off order, so once it's gone, it's gone.
It is a lovely fabric for tops, dresses, duster coats or loose trousers.

I just can't help myself...
This might become a bag No.5.

Pattern sale continues!

Latest make - from in our black lightweight linen.

This pattern looks quick and simple on the paper, but it took me some time to get the fit right(ish). I ended up grading between sizes 8-12 and cropped them a bit. Love the leg shape and they are very comfortable. And the linen is perfect!

How to look cool in the rain? Wear a cool coat!
The lab coat from is one of the best coat patterns we have in the shop. Just look at the pocket situation!!! It's been on my list for a while and I am going to make it one day, I promise.

It's a weekend of hand quilting and tennis watching here at the Green and Velvet HQ. I am using our organic cotton thread and I thought it deserves another shout out on the grid. It comes in many beautiful colours, it is great for hand stitching and machine sewing. You can find it on our website.
Happy Sunday!

So the weather has changed and we are getting some much needed rain. You will never march through British Summer just in breezy clothing, the rain will come back eventually.

The organic cotton dry oilskin fabric is a great choice for lightweight coats, jackets or even trousers. It is water resistant, so you will stay dry, if caught in drizzle.

Do you pre-wash your fabric before sewing your garment? I do.
Natural fibre cloth like linen and cotton shrinks a bit in the wash, so prewashing makes sense. It is also a good idea to secure the fabric edges from fraying in the wash and during sewing, by cutting it with pinking shears or zigzag the edges on the machine.
Happy sewing!
