Bon Makaya! Makaya is a celebration of leaves, as well as a celebration of the light that triumphs over darkness. Starting around December 21st, everyone who celebrates Makaya chooses a day to clean their house and bathe with leaves. During Makaya, people make offerings and feed and help the less fortunate. Makaya is a time of self cleansing and sharing in offerings. Simbi is also honored during Makaya.The colors of makaya are red and green.
